I have a 14 week German Shepherd. The last two days mostly at night he has had the runs. I have to let him out ever three hours. I am in the proccess of weaning him to another brand of food. My vet told me she wants to see him, and she knows that it will cost me 40$ then another 60$ a week later for his shots, so I am waiting until he gets his shots. He eats, active, runs and plays. He is his normal self. Drinking. Is there anything I can give him at home to stop or atleast help him. I am in no position to afford to vet visits, because I had a surprise bill in the mail, called taxes. lol...thanks guys no rude comments please

give him boiled chop meat and rice. its easy on the tummy. switching foods can cause the upset tummy. i would the the rice and beef only for 2 days and if it doesnt improve, then go to the vet, becase it could be something serious like parvo

My neighbor just went through a diarrhea issue with her 6 year old Golden Retriever - and hers was caused by the same issue than yours, a change in food.

Some dogs are very sensitive to food changes and they must absolutely be made very slowly or you can end up with upset dog tummies. I have a German Shepherd as well and she has the most sensitive tummy of any dog I've ever owned - change her food, and you'll be cleaning up runny poop pretty soon.

If you don't mind my asking - what are you switching from and what are you switching to? If you're experiencing consistent runny poop on the food you're switching to after slowly switching it over the course of a month, you may want to consider a different brand of food. Not all dogs do well on all brands of food, and some will consistently have runny poop on some brands of food.

when you change a puppy's food it does give them the runs for about a week or so. If you have a local humane society they will see your pup at a reduced rate. Some vets offer a puppy package that will allow you to make monthly payment while getting the shots with visits included. Some are as low as 20 bucks a month. Shop around, call your local pet product stores they may be able to assist you in your area.

It is due to the food change and may take up to a week for him to get back to "normal"

My vet recommended pasta or rice. Basically carbs. It's healthy for them and will solidify their poop.
