Getting somone to pull out wood flooring and to lay down new tile in a 950 - 1000 square feet home

It does depend on where you live, but I'll tell you what we are looking at (in the southwest US).

$5.00 per square foot for mid-priced tile including installation is $5000.00

To pull out the old wood -- probably $3.00 per square foot, so you are looking at $8000.00. You might consider pulling up the old wood yourself.

If it was me, I'd keep the wood, because hardwood is back in style and tile is going out of style. If your hardwood is in bad shape, consider having it refurbished for about $3.00 per square foot. They come in, strip off the finish, sand it down, and refinish it -- looks brand new.


Good luck with your project. We have to wait on ours, because we had to spend our floor money on a new roof (better a dry head than new floors).

why cant you go over the wood with the tile if its some what level leave it and what type of tile aare you talking about with cement its much more then vinyl call me if youde like im tom nj 732 489 6889

Depends on where you are, labor costs and cost of the tiling. Call around locally and get estimates.

By us, it costs about $3/sq ft for installation alone.
