Well considering what the ingredients are I think it is a very crappy food and it does not contain any real meat just by-products and fillers and junk and artificial preservatives(bad!)... it is the equivalent of a human eating McDonalds as their dietary staple and we all know what effects that kind of food can have on your health(Supersize Me)
Take a look at the ingredients listing for Pedigree Adult Dog food as it is sold in Canada.... Keep in mind the ingredients are listed in descending order from highest content to lowest, so there is more corn than anything else in this food.
Ingredients
GROUND YELLOW CORN, MEAT AND BONE MEAL, CORN GLUTEN MEAL, CHICKEN BY-PRODUCT MEAL, ANIMAL FAT (PRESERVED WITH BHA/BHT), WHEAT MILL RUN, NATURAL POULTRY FLAVOR, RICE, WHEAT FLOUR, SALT, POTASSIUM CHLORIDE, CARAMEL COLOR, VEGETABLE OIL (SOURCE OF LINOLEIC ACID), VITAMINS (CHOLINE CHLORIDE, dl-ALPHA TOCOPHEROL ACETATE [SOURCE OF VITAMIN E], L-ASCORBYL-2- POLYPHOSPHATE [SOURCE OF VITAMIN C*], VITAMIN A SUPPLEMENT, THIAMINE MONONITRATE [VITAMIN B1], BIOTIN, d-CALCIUM PANTOTHENATE, RIBOFLAVIN SUPPLEMENT [VITAMIN B2], VITAMIN D3 SUPPLEMENT, VITAMIN B12 SUPPLEMENT), TRACE MINERALS (ZINC SULPHATE, COPPER SULPHATE, POTASSIUM IODIDE).
It doesnt even say what kind of "Meat and bone meal" are used or what kind of "animal fat" is used, BHA and BHT are under scrutiny for causing severe bad health effects including cancer and tumours...
Excerpt...
Both BHA and BHT have undergone the additive application and review process required by the US Food and Drug Administration. However, the same chemical properties which make BHA and BHT excellent preservatives may also be implicated in health effects. The oxidative characteristics and/or metabolites of BHA and BHT may contribute to carcinogenicity or tumorigenicity; however the same reactions may combat oxidative stress. There is evidence that certain persons may have difficulty metabolizing BHA and BHT, resulting in health and behavior changes. BHA and BHT may have antiviral and antimicrobial activities. Research is underway concerning the use of BHT in the treatment of herpes simplex and AIDS.
Now lets look at a similarly priced food... PC Meaty selections Lamb and Rice... It has meat as the first ingredient and the source(lamb) is specified, it has natural preservatives instead of harmful artificial ones, it also specifies what type of animal fat it contains(poultry) and while it does contain corn, it is not the main ingredient. It also has several whole ingredients like egg and flax seed, as well as some essential oils like safflower, and flax. For the same price it is an infinitely better food for your dog.
Lamb, brewers rice, ground corn, lamb meal, corn gluten meal, rice bran, barley, poultry fat (naturally preserved with mixed tocopherols, a source of Vitamin E), beet pulp, liver digest, dried whole egg, whole ground flax seed, salt, fish meal, potassium chloride, choline chloride, liquid garlic, safflower oil, zinc oxide, vitamins A, D & E supplements, ferrous sulphate (ron), zinc proteinate, thiamine mononitrate, calcium iodate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, calcium pantothenate, copper sulphate, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B12, biotin, sodium selenite, menadione sodium bisulphite (a source of vitamin K activity), manganese oxide, folic acid, cobalt carbonate.
There are other far better foods out there such as Canidae, Natural Balance, Solid Gold, Performatrin, Eagle Pack etc. They cost alot more but they are well worth it.. your dog can eat less and get the nutrients they need, and their health is much better when fed higher quality foods.

Hi, Pedigree really is trash. It would be better to feed her table scraps. I also wanted to add something about a previous answer on the recall. Remember than the FDA does not have any power to make the companies recall dog food. Just because it wasn't recalled doesn't mean it didn't need to be. Pedigree was not recalled. I get concerned that it probably should have been, but company was too cheap to do it. There were three BIG companies that did not recall even though the knew their foods were contaminated. The FDA could not make them recall. I won't use pedigree or purina at all. I just don't feel comfortable with their "honesty" level.

Pretty much any dog food for sale in your grocery store is crap. The first few ingrediends will be corn, wheat, or some kind of meat byproduct...all of which is of low quality and is just filler which makes your dog poop more. The best foods you will find in specialty pet stores. You don't have to pay an arm and a leg, but it will be more than that Pedigree garbage. Always look for a food that has the word Holistic in the label that is corn free and that does not preserve with BHA/BHT. And of course, no salt no sugar.

No. Pedigree is not a good dog food.
If someone really wants to know if a dog food is good start by reading the ingredients. I used to work at a pet store and I had to stay updated on this because people ask a lot of dog food questions....including allergy questions.
Also, for those of you who feed Science Diet.... READ!!!!! Yes, it was started by a vet, but the name was bought out and the ingredients were changed. I know vets sell it and recommend it but try asking them what is in it and see what they say. Ask when the last time they read anything on science diet was or when they compared ingredients.
I once asked a lady why they bought science diet and they said because her vet recommended it. I asked her why her vet recommended it and she said she didn't know. Hmmm. What's wrong with this picture.

Pedigree is not a good food..it is loaded with cheap fillers 7 by products. Corn, wheat & soy are high allergens, they offer little to no nutritional value to the dogs diet, corn & soy have been implicated as causing unexplained seizures in dogs, soy causes excess gas, beet pulp has no nutritional value and only adds unneeded sugars to the diet. It takes up to 3 times more of a grain based food for a dog to get proper nutrition as it does a good quality meat based food.
None of the supermarket brands are good quality(Alpo, Purina, Science Diet,Beneful, etc)

I got diagnosed with herpes virus (type 2) about four years back, when I was still attending college and had a silly one-night stand. I know a lot of girls say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the implications for my entire life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date men again. In the end, who wants to go out with a girl who has sores round her "you know what" area? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/dgubK everything got better.
Not only was I able to remove all remnants of the hsv from my body in less than three weeks, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so lucky to write that just last week, in front of everybody in a busy restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This program provided me the chance to be happy and experience true love again. Now I hope that I can help others too by sharing this story.

I think this brand is horrible. Here's an ingredients list for their Complete Nutrition Formula:
Ground Whole Corn, Meat and Bone Meal, Corn Gluten Meal, Animal Fat (preserved with BHA/BHT), Wheat Mill Run, Ground Wheat, Natural Poultry Flavor, Wheat Flour, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Carmel Color, Vegetable Oil (Source of Linoleic Acid), Rice, Wheat Gluten, Vitamins (Choline Chloride, dl-Alpha Tocopherol Acetate [Source of Vitamin E], L-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate [Source of Vitamin C*], Vitamin A Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate [Vitamin B1], Biotin, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Riboflavin Supplement [Vitamin B2], Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement), Minerals (Zinc Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Potassium Iodide), Added FD&C and Lake Colors (Yellow 6, Blue 2, Red 40, Yellow 5).
It's just full of fillers. There isn't one good quality ingredient in the entire dog food. I actually saw how they make this on tv. One reason why dogs actually 'like' it is b/c they spray it with oil before packaging it to make it smell good, dogs really don't have a sense of taste, but we know how well they can sniff things out. I doubt most dogs would touch this if it wasn't coated with flavorings.

no, take a look at the ingredients!
top ingredients for their complete nutrition
Ground Whole Corn (great source of aflotoxin poisoning in dogs and great food for a COW, not a dog), Meat (just meat, we don't know what kind of animal it was from) and Bone Meal (ground up bones from a random source), Corn Gluten Meal (ew, leftover product from the human food industry), Animal Fat (again, random animal fat that was probably stored in 50 gallon containers for months and must be rendered to make it safe to eat, again we don't know what kind of animal it was from).
Compare this to Timberwolf Organics. Note the first ingredient and many top ingredients are protein (what a concept!) and the ingredients are whole, identified ingredients, not leftovers from the human food industry and not random 'animals' which might be anything.
ingredients of timberwolf:
Venison, Whole Ground Brown Rice, Lamb, Whole Ground Millet, Lamb Meal, Venison Meal, Whole Ground Barley,
Big difference! You get what you pay for. There's a reason they can sell this stuff so cheap and that's because it's made with crap and stuff leftover. If you want good food, you must learn how to read a label and be a bit more picky along with opening your wallet.

A good way to pick dog food my Vet told me The cheaper the food the more your dog poops! It sounds funny but it's true I had my dog on Pedigree he loved it but man he crapped all the time. Now he's on Vet food and he only poops twice a day. A lot better for me, less crap to pick up in my back yard. hahaha

Nope. Wouldn't ever feed that to my dogs. Way too many by products and fillers. You actually have to feed larger portions to meet the nutritional requirements than if you feed a higher quality food. My dogs get Innova.
