Our life here on Earth, on an average, 75-100 years is nothing in comparison to our afterlife, which is eternity, either in Heaven, or as a lost soul or inbetween, all looking for the light, which is allways there, but they did not know that all your actions & your life is all recorded in the" Book Of Life". And the day will come when we are all judged, & there will be no excuses, God will not ask," How much money you had", he will ask " How much money did you give away?", he will not ask " how big your house was", he will ask "How many people did you invite in?". Whether you believe or not the only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ. What better person to judge us than Him, one who gave his life for our sins. In the time before Jesus, even Holy men who sinned once or twice, went to Hell. So why don't we change our way of thinking & try to live life the way GOD wants you to, it's real simple Read the Bible & go to church & deny the evil all around us, May God Bless each & all of us!

stioopid, Sorry, threats of hell, fire, and damnation just don't have the same effect on people as they used to. You cannot scare people into worshiping your God with threats of judgment.

Frankly, the tone of this question (answer) is somewhat disturbing. Belief in God has really nothing to do with being judge. God, not man, judges

I will try to present a simplified answer regarding basic principles of the bible. Here is some context:

God is spirit; we worship in spirit and in truth.

Heaven is where God is and hell is where in is not. Earth is where we earth. Jesus talks about our heavenly father. About being the way, the truth, and the life.

We are judge by what we do as recorded in the book of life, but also other books.

In your details, you command us to read the bible, go to church, and deny the evil all around us.

From reading the bible, I will focus on John 14:5-7
5Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"
6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you really knew me, you would know[a] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."

There is a footnote a: John 14:7 Some early manuscripts If you really have known me, you will know

Philip asked a question in verse 5 and Jesus answer him in verses 6-7. How do we know the way? I am to way... This is a specific reply to Philip, it is not stating that Jesus is the only way, but the way for Philip, his disciples, and eventually us to follow.

As much as I would like to say that Jesus is the only way, John 14 does not support this. Jesus does not say the way in answer to Philip's question; he says the way, the truth, and the life. What life? The life with the father.... Moreover no one comes towards (the Greek word translates towards) the father except through me has a different meaning once you substitute the word towards for to.

I have read the bible; I read it faithfully every day. As for church, we are the church. As for evil, my focus in on God.

One last point, Rev 20:12And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. Note the plural books, not just the Book of Life.

Before you preach about your simple solution, try reading (and understanding} the bible before you misquote it in Yahoo! Answers.

But if someone doesn't believe in God, he doesn't believe in hell, so why would he be afraid?

That's like saying, "If you don't believe in the Cotton Candy Butterflies, then you won't get to go to The Land of the Sugartrees!" It doesn't pull a lot of weight with you, since you don't believe in the The Land of the Sugartrees.

I know you're passionate about this, and it's awesome that you want to save people from a torturous fate. But until you come up with a reason, supported by unambiguous empirical evidence, that people should believe in God, you're just spinning your tires.

If you find any said evidence, please let us know.

You say deny the evil all around us? I think any denial is a bad road to take. ACCEPTANCE is what the world needs. Another really good one that I like is: "Live and Let Live". I know that your religion tells you to preach it to other people but it doesn't bring happiness when you do, it only brings sorrow when you don't accept people for who they are.

Shouldn't you bible beaters spend less time on the internet and more time annoying people by going door to door at 8a.m. to spread the "good word"?

I don't want family in my house much less strangers.

And no, I will not give you my money! God wants you to get a job!

I sent my thirty bucks to the Church of the SubGenius. If X-Day comes in my lifetime, my seat on the flying saucers is paid for in cold, hard, American cash. If not, I have a cool pin for my jacket and a nifty membership card.

Thanks for your advice but it aint that simple to change our way of thinking when all we know is sin because we are born in sin. It takes the Almighty himself to change the way we think and help us to deny evil all around us. You advice should be that we must pray to God and ask for help because we cannot do this alone.

You know, as a Christian who has a personal relationship with God and strives to live by His teachings, I see the point you're trying to make here. The problem I have with your post is that you make it seem like the only reason to believe in and serve God is to keep from going to hell. While that may seem like a good motivator, I don't believe any of us really understand exactly what hell is - or what hell will be for that matter. Sometimes (seriously) I believe LIFE may be hell.

My motivator for serving Christ is because He created me, loves and died for me. Even without the hell thing, I would still love Him and try to abide by His teachings.

You also have to understand that your words are going to fall on deaf ears to atheists. Even breaking your belief down to a very simplistic form will not cause the majority of atheists to change their viewpoints. So, while those of us on a spiritual path may not understand the viewpoint of an atheist, I have to respect their decision, because, to them, my trying to change their viewpoints to mine would be as insane as them trying to change my viewpoints to theirs.

I appreciate your effort with your post though. My relationship with God is the most precious thing in the world.

i believe in God...

but just reading the Bible and going to church and denying evil isn't what God FULLY wants...

(and you can't always do that)

he wants an intimate relationship with people..

one of the men in the Bible (i think it was Paul or David) said that they wanted to be married to God..

and that's a good example

I believe in God, however, thou shalt not use the Lord's name in vain. I seriously doubt you are God and for that matter you also need to know what you are going to say when God asks you, "How many times did you call yourself ELOHIM?"
