Satan is supposed to be smarter than I so why couldn't he have thought of this? That would be a very Satanic thing to do, wouldn't it?

Of course Satan won't write the bible. The bible has a limited audience. The bible is only read by some scholars and followers of Christianity and certain religion.
Satan would write speeches, novels, magazine articles, textbooks, tv, movie scripts for Hollywood etc...
The bible is often distributed for free, so Satan won't make money on it.
Satan influences people's mind to write Satanic messages and distribute them to the world. Satan motivates these people by rewarding them with money - Tons and tons of them.
For example you can have an Award winning rapper with obscene lyrics, the best selling novel with satanic writings, the $200 million dollar movie with satanic script, the best selling video games with satanic messages.

Satan might be smarter than those who are without the Holy Spirit. But, as born-again believers in Christ we have the power to defy and resist Satan in the holy name of Jesus Christ. Satan no longer has power over us (Romans 6:18).
Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)
FYI - God does prevent things from happening but He also allows for certain things to occur. Read the Book of Job and this might become clearer to you.
