Reading to them. It is great learning for both and teaches a love of books.

You can also use blocks with letters on them and make words. Not only does it work on motor skill, it reinforces the reading that is so important to all of us.

I've had your dilemma year-round, ever since my second child was born. Check your local library. Our library periodically offers free storytime groups that are fun for both kids. Local parks (obviously when it gets warmer) are fun but can wear you out pretty quickly with toddlers. I've also just learned about a new restaurant in our area (may be one near you, too) called Stonefire Pizza, where children under three are free to eat AND play (they have a water table, a train table, a huge climbing structure, a ball pit, face painting, etc etc etc). You do have to pay for your own pizza buffet though (so it isn't free, but not too expensive). Or try your local parks department. Ours offers inexpensive tumbling, music, art, swimming, and other kinds of classes, even for babies. There is also a website in my area for local playgroups, so you might want to do a search for yours in case one exists. And when you need a little downtime, Babyfirst TV is age-appropriate, educational, and commercial-free for about $10/month (check your local cable or satellite provider). My kids also love the Baby Einstein videos; your library might carry them. Oh, and my little girl just figured out that she can play a primitive form of "catch" with her little brother (who can't really catch yet). It's fantastic when they actually play together! Good luck!

Whatever you plan to do to entertain your 2 yr old , make it Short ...Sweet and Colourful! Always remembering that their attention span is short. You can buy some coloured paper and do cut out of words that spells his/her name. Cut out shapes in different colours and make up simle stories. Stories that will make his/her eyes glow. The most important this is to make sure YOU are having FUN!!! because if you are have fun....trust me ...he/she will be having a GREAT TIME TOO!!!
ENJOY!!!!
