Yuscan? Tucson? Tuscani?
The new Accent is supposed to be pretty good, but I've seen the older ones fall apart in cold weather (like Alaska cold, but still...). Still, it's an entirely new car.
The Elantra is a very good car, especially if you're going to keep it for the length of the warranty.
The Impala is too big to be FWD. But hey, they've improved their warranty, and if you're getting a deal...police departments do not generally adopt unreliable cars en masse. They've got to at least be decent. (I've only driven a Monte Carlo, which is the same platform IIRC, but not quite the same. It's okay, but still has that coffee-table-on-casters feeling you get from a lot of larger FWD cars)
edit: The Impala is NOT imported from Europe and is not based on any European GM models. It is built in Canada, and only North American models use the platform.

Also, there have been reports of people getting poor (low 20s) fuel economy with the Accent which have been impossible to diagnose.

Hyundai's are junk, fall apart, have the worse resale value of any car, made of tin foil, wouldnt' buy one for my dog.
Chevy Impala....last few body styles are all good cars. Newest Impala is actually an Opel car (same sedan as the new Saturn sedan) that is imported from the UK by GM (Opel is a division of GM, they make better cars).
Hands down....the Impala.

Yesterday I saw a yellow Lamborghini Murcielago. Nothing to beat it. In smaller and cheaper cars, a MINI Cooper S which has a approximate power output of 148BHP is a good car.
