I am not a very good cook and my husband (the cook in the family) is out of town for a couple of days. I need to cook for my son and myself, and I don't want to eat stuff you add water and bake. Sorry if I sound pathetic. Thank you.

Put them on the 'broiler pan' and set the pan on the 'top shelf' of your oven, with the broiler already on. Leave them (and 'watch them carefully) for about 5-10 minutes. Take the whole pan out, turn them over so the 'uncooked sides' are 'up' and put them back into the broiler for another 4-6 minutes. This should give you 'well done' pork chops that aren't burned ... if you like your pork cooked 'rarer' (and you don't need to worry so much about disease these days, so you can cook 'rarer' pork) then cook it for less time. And you are NOT pathetic ... most young women these days don't even 'think' about cooking. I do 'know how' but did all the cooking when my children were growing up ... and now my husband cooks our dinner most nights because he loves me ... and he was a professional chef at one time, so we eat really well.

Think of this as an adventure! My son loves this recipe for pork chops- Lightly coat the pork chops with flour, then dip them in Italian salad dressing. Next, coat them with bread crumbs and bake them at 425 until they are done- which will depend on the thickness of the pork chop.-- about 20 minutes. There should be no pink left in the middle.

You don't sound pathetic at all- my neice called me last year to ask me how to boil an egg. To get more cooking ideas you might want to try the Kraft website.

Something that's really easy to make and healthy and kid-friendly is tacos. All you do is cook up some groud beef or chicken, add taco seasoning, and serve with taco shells, lettuce, salsa, avocado sliced up, cheese, sour cream, etc. You could make extra meat and either add it to a pasta sauce or use the extra chicken on a pre-mixed ceasar salad bag from the grocery store. For pork chops I would cook them in a hot pan for a few minutes to brown them, then pour in a mixture of 1 cup of apple sauce, a cup or so of chicken or beef broth, and some sliced onion. Salt and pepper to toaste once it's cooked a few minutes. It's make for a sweet and savory sauce that will keep them tender while they cook through. Cook until the juice is clear and the inside is very light pink and cooked through.

And you should be proud of yourself for doing something you aren't really comfortable doing! Most people would take their kid to McDonalds or buy some frozen pizza and call it a day. :)

Baste them in a little soy sauce and garlic powder and broil away! In broiling, the biggest mistake is cooking too fast. Be sure the outside does not burn before the inside is cooked thoroughly. Do this by not setting temp. too high, or being sure they grate is far enough away from the heat source.

What I would do is buy one of those asian marinating sauces. Leave it marinating, and pan fry a couple minutes on each side. Good Luck.
