It really gets embarrassing that so many little things trigger tears and weeping. I really want to learn to control myself. It not even a matter of me taking things personally because I dont and I cry if I hurt myself or wtvr which has nothing to do with sensitivy. Please only mature answers- no insults or I might cry lol

I AM NOT DEPRESSED!!! I have been like this all my life- I used to be more sensitive but I grew out of it I just still cry soo easily..whenever I talk about something thats upsetting me or bothering me or like I said even if I hurt myself (not too bad) I'll cry or choke up and its soo embarrassing..sometimes you want to talk about things that are bothering you but you don't want to make a whole scene...

Perhaps you might be depressed? See your doctor, maybe an antidepressant would help you...

I'm highly sensitive this way too. You may be overly emphathetic (not a bad thing). If you cry whenever you see someone else in emotional pain, during movies, etc. you're either imagining yourself suffering in the same way or becoming upset about "others" pain. Either way, tears flow.

There's no magic way to stop being sensitive but you can find some relief using techniques such as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) which I teach to people in the context of weight loss but it can be used for absolutely everything. It costs nothing to learn and use it. Get the e-book which explains the technique from http://www.emofree.com. I also offer free instructions on my site.

I still cry easily but I've learned to stop upsetting myself needlessly and maybe you can too.

I cry a lot as well. I don't think I'm depressed, but I think I have a lot of pent-up frustration and such. I cry when someone's being mean to me and when watching sad movies. I haven't found a successful tactic to supress the urge to cry, but focusing your energy onto something helped somewhat (not too much, I must say).

Although you really highlight the fact that it is embarassing, I do also find it liberating and relieving. I feel so much better after. Some people punch walls when they can't handle it and I cry. If you think about it, there are so many people in this world who cannot cry and would not cry. Presidents, for example. Imagine how repressed they are. It remains to be seen, however, how I will be treated in the workplace as I haven't cried there -- yet.

It sounds like you are suffering from depression. Does this happen year round or mostly in the winter? If it's mostly in the winter, it could be SAD (seasonal affective disorder). If it's SAD you can use a light therapy box for treatment. Depression is a real medical condition, usually caused by low levels of seratonin, so don't feel like it's something that you need to control. There are many anti-depressants on the market now too. You should go to your doctor and figure out what's going on and what will work best for you. I've been there and it's no fun. Take care of it before it gets worse. Best of luck to you. :)

I know exactly what you mean. When I feel like I want to cry, I try to take deep breaths and pray. If that does not work, I get away from the source of the tears. Petting my cat, smelling calming scents, and stretching or going for a walk also help. Good Luck!

Don't worry about it. I cry a lot too. Even though I'm much younger than you, I have gone through anger managment for two years. I finally released and started crying. Now I cry on the simplist things. You need to thank God that you don't hold it in. That's worse for you than anything.

I'm 56 and I have always been a crier. I really don't think there is anything that you can do. I just want to let you know that you are not alone and I am a sensitive and caring person. Crying is our release....Good Luck to You.

wow,.....it just means your overly sensitive.....maybe theres a drug that you can take to lower your emotional levels a touch. I had a gf like that once, but I thought it was just an act because she would cry an never explain herself as to why or what she was feeling to bring on the cry.
