Hi Ray...your cat would be considered a Domestic Long Hair (DLH) tabby (if he has a "M" on his forehead). Without the "M" he would be only considered a DLH. Unless your purchased your cat directly from a pedigree breeder and do not have any registered with a cat registry representing his breed he is considered by veterinarians and shelters as a DLH.

Wow, you've got a big guy there! Sounds beautiful. He is probably a domestic longhair, as other people have mentioned, if he is a solid color like you say. I have a longhair too, but he only weighs 12 lbs. Check with the vet but I wouldn't be surprised if they want him to go on a diet. Also, I'm sure you already know this, but keep him brushed every day or he will get nasty mats in his fur especially if he goes outdoors.

I think you should name him fluffy.

Sounds like you have a heck of a cat there , I think it is of the cat variety of cat.
