after she took vicadin. Its now been over 5 days and she still has some hives on her body. Is it from the Vicadin or could it be from something else. She says they itch and they look puffy and red.

I, too, had the exact same reaction to vicodine and had my throat close up as a result. She should contact the perscribing physician immediately and notify her pharmacy that she has this reaction to the drug. The pharmacy will list it on her file for future reference.

She can get some relief from the itching with oatmeal. She can grind some up in the blender or buy some Aveeno or Equate bath packetts at the drug stores or discounters. She can also buy oatmeal moisturizer to take with her when she is on the go. Some people find the swelling is relieved by adding a half a cup or so of baking soda to the oatmeal bath.

Contrary to common belief, not all hives appear as a result of an allergic reaction. She really should have a physician examine them and order the proper tests to determine their origin.

Good luck!

I use to have this condition, when i spoke to my Doctor they said it could Ben something that your allergic to,something that change like, laundry detergent, or different clothes, maybe some kind of house cleaning product in the home that's making her react. i it's not anything, then the best solution is for her to take baking soda baths and stay i there for a hour for it to really start working to stop the itching and the hives, if she takes a baking soda bath 2-3 times then it will go away.

My hives always went away when i took a baking soda bath. trust me it works..that's how i was bale tot sleep at night.

Good luck!!!

Alot of painkiller do this to people. One time I was prescribed Tylenol 3 which has codeine in it. I had hives for nearly two weeks and the worse stomach ache of my life. Get some Caladryl and rub on them or maybe a Aveeno Oatmeal bath.
