You'll need to desensitize the dog to the sound of the ringing phone. For whatever reason, the sound is sending the dog into a frenzy, and she may be obsessing over it.

I saw an episode of the Dog Whisperer in which a woman owned a miniature Collie that would flip out every time the toaster popped up. Cesar put the dog on a leash with very little slack, and brought her into the kitchen where the toaster was. He then began putting the toaster button down and popping it up; each time the dog began flipping out (barking, spinning in circles, going crazy), Cesar would correct the behavior right away, make it stop, then do it again. He did it over and over again for what seemed like 1/2 hour or so; eventually, the dog learned to that the sound of the toaster meant that it would receive a correction, and stopped flipping out. Amazing!

As annoying as it might sound to make your phone ring for a 1/2 hour or an hour while you work with your dog, the long term results would be well worth it if you could have a telephone conversation in peace, and your dog was relaxed and comfortable despite a ringing phone.

Good luck!

Lower the ring. His breed may be sensitive to sound.

I had a yorkie that did the same. He was reacting to my actions, when the phone rang, like its up, and off play time.
Relax when you answer, let it ring and do your commands in a whisper, holding his chin and making eye contact. Let it ring until he understands and calms down.
Don't answer while he's having a fit.
If you add this to the great response from the ex from the dog whisperer you may have it.

For my sisters dog, while visiting, I would put him in the bathroom, shut the door, with no repremend, just whispers. Then answer the phone.
Your loud, their loud...
Two times of this, and his fits stopped for the visit. Of course he pick it back up when he got back home to my sisters.

you need to teach your dog the command "quiet". Clicker training may be a good place to start. Ths is where the dog is positively rewarded for good behaviour.

I would suggest first teaching your dog the command "speak" and then "quiet".

Their are loads of good websites on clicker training, just use a search engine to find one.

Remember if your constantly shouting at your dog to shut up but he dosnt know what you mean, all he thinks your doing is barking with him. You need to reward him when he is quiet and you'll soon be a lot happier

If you go on madaboutanimals.co.uk they sell a thing called a pet corrector. All it is is a spray that hisses, and the noise of it frightens the dog, so they stop doing whatever it is. It doesnt hurt the dog, just makes a noise like a snake hissing. It worked on my 3 yr old and stopped him jumping upn at people. Just follow the instructions and it should help. Good luck!

When it rings put her outside the room or even in the garden, then when you finish the phone call, hug her and give her some kisses to make her forget what you've done because of the phone.

There are a few real keys to dog training, whether you are trying to train your dog to come when called, sit, stop barking or any other behavior. Understanding their importance is critical to achieving rapid results that are long lasting and help develop the bond between you and your dog. Learn more http://OnlineDogTraining.enle.info/?jP54

The first is simple; you must win your dogs mind. If you don’t achieve this first then you will be struggling the all the way. When I talk about winning your dogs mind what I really mean is that your dog looks to you for all the decisions. Before you do anything else watch one of the amazing video sites that show you the 5 Golden rules to establishing yourself as the pack leader. If you aren’t putting these in place then you are setting yourself up to fail. Just at the crucial point where you really want your dog to listen they will go and do their own thing. For sure your dog may play ball occasionally or even most of the time, you may even have a dog that is obedient 99% of the time, however if you want a dog who always listens to you and does as you ask then you need to win your dogs mind.

The second key to success is to motivate your dog. It is really important that you discover what it is that your dog enjoys both in terms of exercise and play but also in terms of a reward. If you can make the experience enjoyable then you will both achieve more and look forward to training.

Some dogs love to fetch, others love agility, and other dogs simply love obedience training, or swimming out into water and retrieve. At least to start with find out what your dogs love is and help them develop this, what I am saying is work with your dog. The other point to recognize is to make training enjoyable reward your dog.

Have you let your dog have a good sniff of the phone and look at it? It might sound funny but maybe its startling her each time it rings and she is scared. You ring the phone and when it rings let the dog have a sniff and look at it and see if it helps. If she does look etc praise her for it and give her cuddles reassuring her and so on that it is alright. It might help? Good luck.

Tell her NO! you are the boss for crying out loud! Your word is law, if she doesnt listen then you are not in control... make her stop barking, hold her mouth shut and say NO, then when she is quiet give her a treat.

Have two saucepan lids or aluminium trays ready. Ring your home phone from your mobile, as soon as she barks at the ringing CRASH the lids/trays.
