Do you keep shaking the basket? Shake it as soon as they go down, and shake every minute or two to keep them from cooking themselves together.

This is the way I've always done it to keep stuff from sticking, especially battered fish.

You must shake them around... so they won't stick ... and make sure your oil is 375'F or they will absorb too much oil and not brown quickly enough ... so pick up your fryer basket and give it a good shake every so often...

Try to preheat your fry basket for a few minutes, this sometimes works for me. It also can be the batter you are using. I don't use my basket most of the time I use some really long tongs. The drakes fry batter does seem to work best. Hope this helps.

One of two things, either you need to change the oil or your heat is to high.
