I don't know what the income limit is, but you do not need to file if you make under a certain amount. Call a local tax preparation place. They should be able to tell you for sure.

Who Should File
Even if you do not have to file, you should file a tax return if you can get money back. For example, you should file if one of the following applies.

You had income tax withheld from your pay.

You made estimated tax payments for the year or had any of your overpayment for last year applied to this year's estimated tax.

You qualify for the earned income credit. See Publication 596, Earned Income Credit (EIC), for more information.

You qualify for the additional child tax credit. See the instructions in your tax forms package for more information on this credit.

You qualify for the health coverage tax credit. For information about this credit, see Form 8885, Health Coverage Tax Credit.

You qualify for the credit for federal telephone excise tax paid. If you are filing a return only to claim this credit, you may be able to file Form 1040EZ-T, Request for Refund of Federal Telephone Excise Tax. See the instructions in your tax forms package for more information on this credit.

Call your local tax person...each state is different. In VA there is a certain amount you can make and not have to fill taxes. I THINK that it is $600. but I am not sure...... in Ohio I believe it was $2000. But each state is different. So check your state.

If you made $1 you have to file a return. You might not have to pay, but you still need to file, or risk an audit

i think if you get a w-2 then you have to file, unless you get some sort of letter from the IRS saying you don't have to, but if you at or below the poverty level income you get every dime back. it used to be $16,000 but its probably at what ever the current poverty level is,

but if they took money out of your pay check you need to file, otherwise your just giving more money to the government. and believe me they have enough
