Bird flu is very serious. There was a special on National Geographic about how bird flu gets to humans. It is passed through pigs. Pigs can get human flu and bird flu. Whenever a pig gets both types they can mutate and combine to make a "super flu". The way that people get this is from open markets where the pigs are laying out in the open and being butchered in public. A customer walking by breathes in a flu virus and then the population is infected. That customer from the market goes on a plane and then everyone on the plane is infected and then it passes from country to country. You should check your local listing for that National Geographic special.

As of now, it is not serious.

The reason is that you can only contract it in birds and you really have to be close to the bird's bodily fluids.

There is now way you can pass it human to human.

I'm not entirely sure, but you should be able to find something on whitehouse.gov or wikipedia.com about it.
