Yep...you guessed it, I am the party pooper...well, almost. Getting "kinky" is sometimes seen as the last resort of a lack-luster marriage, or to aleviate boredom in the sack department. I think I am a child of the great "Stereotype", I was raised to think of sex as special enough in itself and the media exposure of leather-clad people playing Twister on various torture devices was kind of a big turn-off...but hey, it's a free(ish) country. In my late teens I became a bit of a goth (By bit I mean I drew the line at eyeliner and womens make up...Hmmm?) and my friends were into "kinky" stuff...and I could't really get my head round it!
Lastly, I agree with the answer about word usage:
Pervy brings images of dirty old folk (the flasher Mac brigade!) hanging around shadowy parks at night.
Kinky is more towards leather and tassles and hot pokery things...Ow!

There's a difference between "pervy" and "kinky." The term "pervy" is negative and will always remain so among people who actually understand the meaning while "kinky" can just be a walk "on the wild side" and can be fun, healthy and good.

I will agree. And have done so. But your level of kink may be childs play to someone elses (vanilla, as they say). Experience tells me that going down this path takes great caution and control. It is easy to get absorbed into the moment until it is controlling you and not the other way around. Proceed only if you are willing to face the dangers. Many unsurfaced emotions lie in these pursuits.

I only use the term when an action is genuinely hurtful in some way and deliberately...
Most things are fine or at most questionable
