We are Colorado Residents but we lived in Wisconsin for 2 1/2 months this year. My husband made $8265.00 while we were in Wisconsin, and for some strange reason they did not take out any federal or state taxes?? Most of our money was made in the State of Colorado. We have 6 dependants including my husband.
How do we go about filing our taxes with Wisconsin and Colorado?

you will file a colorado return as you are a resident there, and you will file a wisconsin return as a non-resident. go to wisconsin tax site and find forms for nonresidents. generally, the two states will each look at your total income but will only be taxing income earned in their state, although there are different ways and different complexities in doing the calculations depending on the state. It's not that bad, I did it once with 3 states

I am pretty sure that you should file tax for both states. My wife had a similar situation last year and she filed tax for two states. If you should not receive tax forms from either state, you can go to its web site (for the revenue department) to download the required forms. You can also call its customer services for guidance.

You can also ask a tax professional to help you but I am not a big fun of that. I think it's better to file tax return by yourself and save the money. But if you have a really complex situation, that is another story.

You record a Georgia state earnings tax return, accurately record the quantity of Georgia state earnings tax withheld from you pay, calculate your easily Georgia state earnings tax (which you point out could be 0), calculate the version, and request a refund of that quantity.
