You better get married first and make about 6 notarized copies of the marriage certificate to distribute to all the agencies that are going to be requesting them. Start a 3-ring binder and put the copies in the front pocket so that they're always handy. In the binder, write the complete date and name and phone # of agency you spoke to and what advice they gave you (it gets messy!) and person. You'll need it to refer back to when you hit a glitch 3 months down the line, and oh yes you will.
Good luck and God bless.

I know the laws differ from state to state, but the one constant is the biological father MUST terminate his parental rights BEFORE your fiance can adopt your son. In some states you must be married 6 months before the adoption can occur, others 1 year. There is a form that your lawyer will present you with to get signed by the biological father. Then you will need copies of your marriage license, birth certifiate of your son, and signed termination of parental rights form, which needs to be notarized and witnessed by 2 people. I know this because my husband is currently adopting my son. It is a lot of work, but it is designed to protect the rights of the biological parents.

The father has papers to sign and you must go through the courts to make it final. If you want to be sure a Judge sins off on it , you should be married. Good luck to you all.

One: You were underage when you got pregnant, he has no parental rights.

Two: Yes, your fiancee can adopt your child. You can do it after you get married.

I don't know of any low cost attorneys, but there ya go.

I think you have to be married for one year. But Job and family services should be able to tell you more. It all depends on what county/state you are in.
