We all know that Mormons are not Christian, but I would like some real thoughtful examples of why they can not be considered Christian.

I'm sorry but Mormons are not Christian. In order to be Christian you must worship the biblical God who is has always been God. The Mormon God is an exalted Man, or a mortal man who acheived Godhood. This is not a Christian theology. Mormons are not Christian.

Also you must follow the Jesus of the bible to be Christian. The book of Mormon really is a testament of another Jesus Christ.
The bibilical Jesus is part of the triune nature of God. The Mormon Jesus is not.

And B. Jones Article 3 says it all. You can see how you've got it wrong
"We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel"
This is wrong. The sentence needs to be written this way
"We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved"
That's all there is to it. By qualifying that statement with "...by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel" you are saying that Christ's sacrifice is only sufficient when accompanied with your mormon laws and ordinances. That is just wrong and Jesus is offended by this, I can assure you.

Mormon beliefs differ so much from the beliefs of Christians that they remain a religion of their own, and certainly not Christian.
Christians believe that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God and the second member of the Holy Trinity, who took on flesh to redeem mankind.
Mormon's believe that Jesus is a brother of the devil, just one of many sons of God, and that any good Mormon man can eventually become just like him, and even have his own world to rule some day.
There are many other divergences from the true faith, which are too numerous to mention.
For these reasons and more, Mormon baptism is considered invalid by the Catholic Church, which recognizes the validity of baptism in nearly all Christian denominations who baptize with water, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
In the end, Mormons preach a different gospel, about another christ, who is without a doubt, much different than the one we Christians have come to know and love.
Their christ is the son of an unknown god, and a brother of the devil.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is in fact, the "Church of Another Christ".

You're kidding me right!!! how about you ask a Mormon to get a true answer. We are Christian, to be a Christian means you believe in Christ. Look at our name The church of Jesus CHRIST of latter day saints. Just because we believe that we have a prophet here on the earth who we believe receives revelation through Christ(since Christ is in Heaven as of now) does not mean we do not believe in Jesus Christ. This is often confused and a very common pet-peeve of Mormons. I am a Mormon and ALL other Mormons would tell you the same thing, which is, we do believe in Christ and God and in the bible, there fore we are in fact Christian. I'm sorry if that came out a bit rude, but to be honest it really annoys me when others who don't know the truth think they do. To get a reliable answer you have to get it from the source. You can debate me all you want, but ask any Mormon. I rest my case.

Righteousness and the majority are not always on the same side. That was some read, and I was taken back by some. No it is not part of God's people ever. Such talk. Nor will it ever be a part of his culture. I do believe we should shun those willful sinning, so that we don't provoke God to anger or feel hurt by us ; for it is a truth it is hard to obtain forgiveness for sins that were willfully committed. And that includes bad or unhealthy associations. Even our silence sometimes supports sin and you see by reply after picking best answer. We need to avoid indecent words, and filthy jokes of which respectable people would be ashamed. *That surely doesn't mean just stand there and say nothing about it neither. "How does that look to others when you say your a Christian but say nothing when someone says something like that? It gives them a bad message of you and your faith. Like a silent approval. I'm not surprised the poster made a note of that in reply at the end. Lewd conversation of this sort is outward proof of an unregenerate heart; "For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh" (Matt. 12:34). And smutty humor and immodest words smooth the road to dishonorable deeds. Such mirth is clearly forbidden by God's Word. "Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient," says the Apostle Paul, are to be permitted. "For because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience" (Eph. 5:4, 6). Through such evil talk and vain mirth the Holy Spirit of God is grieved. Eph. 4:29-30. So God must have been deeply grieved there. I know some won't like to hear that. Maybe they will say well we didn't say it but is standing there when others are saying how wrong it is any better? Saying nothing yourself does make you look a part of the other company. Maybe some didn't come back but I think most did and some maybe decided I won't get into that like silence makes it better. Better for whom? I think of the crowd In Exodus who may not have said anything themselves when some were behaving badly, maybe they thought by saying nothing that would excuse them too, pleasing both. It didn't. They had to make a stand. Sometimes we do and it's Shame we have to be told as Christians when. We are so prejudiced in our own favor often that we cannot see our own mistakes and shortcomings as easily as those of others. And will often will rebuke if others say anything, you will get that too, we have all the excuses for it, and yet it is very necessary that we have their help, since they can see our needs much more clearly than we ourselves can Again, such foul talk is "no" part of a Christian life. Nowhere in the Bible are we told to tolerate sin, and to be quiet about it especially when it has become an issue around us and we are there. I can see why you asked this and I felt the question was a good one for some looking in and should be addressed. Actually I know many Unbelievers and Atheists who have better manners than to say something like that on a public place or anywhere. I did read it and saved it, to see how much people admit to, hide, learn and change in time to come.

Mormonism is not Christian because it denies that there is only one God, denies the true Gospel, adds works to salvation, denies that Jesus is the uncreated creator, distorts the biblical teaching of the atonement, undermines the authority and reliability of the Bible, says that God used to be a man who came from another planet, that we can become gods, that there is a goddess mother in heaven, etc.

I don't have to think very hard so I'll make it short. For me and me only, it's because they had an angel named Moroni that came to their leader, Joseph Smith, and he wrote an Addition to the Holy Bible called The Book of Mormon. I have read it and I didn't find anything horrible there. I just don't need to be a Mormon. That doesn't sit too well with strict Christians!! I don't think The Angel Moroni was real, but it's not up to me! Faith is a choice. The Mormons still try to find God though and live for Him. They may be misled but they don't know it. God takes all that into consideration and He loves His Mormons because we are all Human Beings. But to be "saved" you must believe that Jesus is the Only begotten Son of God and he was born of a Virgin, and He rose agan to live forever. Just my own belief. Peace.

According to LDS theology, the God who created Earth and its lifeforms was once an ordinary Joe who aspired to bigger things and achieved them.
Any LDS who follows the teachings of Joseph Smith can also aspire to those heights and eventually become a god.
According to them, Jesus is a man who achieved that end and taught it to the Jews, who refused it, then His disciples tried to teach it to the Gentiles but they got it wrong, and Jesus Himself went to the New World to find the Ten Lost Tribes and give them the good news. He succeeded with some, failed with others and evetually went on His merry way.
One of His angels, Moroni by name, brought some golden plates to the attention of Joseph Smith and obligingly translated them for him and his buddies. This translation is the Book of Mormon.
It is a religion of secrecy, only the initiates being allowed to know what's going on in the Inner Circle. There's lots of rumors, lots of gossip and some of it may even be true, but unless you want to be a Mormon, ignore it.
As people, they're remarkably like everyone else. Some good folks, a few rotten apples, a little prideful, a little squeamish, a little prejudiced, a little kind, a little confused (because the directives keep changing according to whatever the current prophet has to say).
Technically, they are NOT Christian in that they do not accept Jesus as the eternally begotten Son of the Father, but only as a man who made good on becoming a god.
But to them, that IS Christianity. And what they are all supposed to be striving for --- deification through faith and certain rituals.
Hope this helped.

I am Mormon and consider myself a Christian. We do not worship anyone but our Heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ. We esteem the Prophets that have done God's work, but we do not worship them. We believe that Joseph Smith was a modern day Prophet, just as Moses was a Prophet in his time. Yet we don't worship Joseph Smith, or Moses, or any other Prophet, but we repect and honor them and the work they did. Jesus Christ is our Saviour and Redeemer, only through his atonement are we able to return to our Heavenly Father. So if believing that makes me "not a Christian", then that's fine. I won't be judged according to the title you give me, but rather by what I do with my life and the decisions that I make.

Okay, I grew up Mormon, and the reason they are not considered Christian is because the way to heaven is through Jesus...and works. It's in the 13 articles of faith.

Betty Boop - Jehovah's Witnesses do believe in Jesus. They believe he is God's Son and the Messiah. All their teachings are based on the Bible. How can you not believe in Jesus and follow the bible? That is a old wives tale, I guess because we don't celebrate Christmas?
