Do i ever have an excellent frosting, this stuff works well for cookies especially...
16 oz of powdered sugar
1/4 cup of milk
1 tsp of vanilla extract
Food coloring about 1-2 drops if you'd like it
This stuff is sooo sweet, and if you leave it to set actually hardens up on the outside, leaving wonderful creaminess on the inside!

Chocolate Buttercream Frosting:

2 cups (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate morsels
3/4 cup whipping cream, divided
1 cup butter, softened
10 cup sifted powdered sugar, divided
1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Microwave chocolate morsels and 1/4 cup whipping cream in a 1-quart microwave-safe bowl at MEDIUM (50% power) 3 1/2 minutes. Stir until smooth.

Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until fluffy; gradually add 3 cups powdered sugar, beating well. Gradually add chocolate mixture and vanilla, beating until smooth.

Add remaining 7 cups powdered sugar alternately with remaining 1/2 cup whipping cream, beginning and ending with powdered sugar. Beat mixture at low speed until well blended after each addition.

Yield: Makes 7 cups

Here's an easy chocolate one from cooks.com:

HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE FROSTING
1 c. sugar
1 sq. chocolate
3/4 tsp. salt
1/3 c. milk
1/4 c. Crisco
Mix all ingredients and boil for 1 minute, remove from heat, add 1 teaspoon vanilla mix and beat until cool.

Here's one for cream cheese frosting, traditionally used to frost carrot cake, but also good on applesauce or spice cake, or on chocolate cake:

CREAM CHEESE FROSTING
1/2 c. butter
1 small package cream cheese
1 tsp. vanilla
1 lb. confectioners sugar
Combine butter, cream cheese, and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Gradually add the sugar, while beating well. If mixture is too thick to spread, add a small amount of milk.

Happy Baking!

1. Maple Frosting

1/4 cup butter or margarine
3 cups sifted powdered sugar
3 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon maple flavoring

Beat butter in a small mixing bowl for 30 seconds.
Gradually add 1 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar, beating well.
Beat in milk and maple flavoring.
Gradually beat in an additional 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 cups sifted powdered sugar to make a spreadable frosting.

2. Mocha Frosting

6 ounces unsalted butter, softened
5 cups confectioners' sugar, about
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tablespoons instant espresso
1/4 cup milk or heavy cream, about

Dissolve coffee in 2 tbls hot water.
Beat (electric mixer) butter until light, sift the sugar and cocoa into the butter.
Combine, stirring with a spoon until well blended.
Stir in the coffee and milk.
Beat (electric mixer) frosting on low speed until until smooth and light.
If necessary, adjust consistancy by adding 1 tbls of sugar or milk at a time.

3. Caramel Frosting

1 1/2 cups brown sugar
3/4 cup margarine
1/2 cup milk
3 cups confectioners' sugar

Bring brown sugar, margarine, and milk to a boil and boil for 2 minutes.
Cool for 30 minutes.
Add confectioners sugar and beat until smooth.
Spread on cake.
This makes enough frosting for a large cake.

Enjoy
