How long to collect debts in Texas?

Received letter form Attorney that has been trying to collect for years. It is a draft of lawsuit. Has not been filed. Owe $1600 debt on file since 9-2001.

I suggest trying to settle. You do not want to be sued. I am not sure of a statute of limitations on debt....but I kinda doubt there is one as you are recommenced to keep paid in full notices for ever after a debt settlement
