What makes them act so smug and self righteous, not to forget far superior in intelligence?
And very condescending, like they are Gods because they participate in the multi-billion dollar health scam promoting false information regarding health around the world. Should they instead be called "Traitors" or "Traders" ?
Many, not all.

Many doctors run conveyor belt practices (5 minutes of almost nothing = $200), take "gifts" from pharmaceuticals, waste your time, don't return phone calls, don't even pretend to care about their patients. Mostly these doctors are nothing more than glorified technicians. You are more likely to find decent, caring and competent doctors among those who run specialty practices. They probably are more secure in themselves and don't have to fight tooth and claw for the money.

I am sorry that you have such an ill concept of physicians. But you are making a broad generalization. Before you decide what doctors are all about, spend a day "shadowing" one in an ER. I have people do this all the time. Usually they are pre-med, sometimes just high school students who have an interest. Spend a day in my shoes before you dictate my motivations and mannerisms.

Did you know that about 50% of the patients I see will never pay the bill. It changes NOTHING in the care that I provide. When I go to see someone I don't know the patients insurance coverage, nor do I want to know. I will provide the same level of care, regardless.

I guess I am not sure I understand what people consider valuable. Becoming a doctor takes an incredible amount of sacrifice. It seems that 12 years of education after high school. Over a hundred thousand dollars in debt for that education. Graduating from a school that most people can't even get accepted into, much less finish. Postponing life's events such as marriage and kids, because your time demands won't allow it. Spending holidays, birthdays, family vacations working while your family is without their mom/dad. Missing out on your kids soccer games, school plays, piano recitals because there are people who are sick and injured that you have pledged to help (and want to help). Having work days that can last 36 hours. Finally working under the pressure of making decisions, that if you are wrong, someone might die. These seem like they should have some value to me.

Wow, dustoff really took the time to answer you patiently and thoroughly without getting defensive, I bet he is a great doctor.

I'm not sure what has happened to you to make you angry at the medical profession, but I can assure you none of us are getting rich, not even the doctors (well maybe a few but they work their butts off). I wouldn't be a doctor, way too much work to get there and way too much work the whole time, long hours, being on call, too many patients, insurance and legal hassles, people don't realize how hard it really is to care for the public at their most vulnerable. Thankfully there are great doctors out there willing to put in the time/training and the long hours needed.

If you have a problem with doctors... then become one. I am sure you can do a better job.
