I'm sorry. But What consittues a "truly great animal"? That is about the dumbest thing I have ever heard.
He ran in circles!!! And this makes him "truly great"?

No swoosh, I will not respect peoples opinions. Thats exactly whats wrong with people today. Everyone's all P.C. and respectful of each other. If you say something dumb, I am going to call you out on it. Maybe then you won't speak up next time and spread the stupidity.
Anyone who enjoys watching things turn in cricles is probably a member of a union or american legion. And we all know how those people are!!

I completely agree with you. And most of these people ONLY watch the triple crown races, they have no interest in any other racing so know nothing about racing. Anyways. C'mon guys, the real heroes are out fighting wars, cancer, slaughter. You all need to grow up.
The people who are going to reply to this question telling the asker to grow up are naive. There are more people following this story than the presidential race and that is just sad.
Did you all hear the radio calling him dieing a tragedy that compares to 9/11? Disgusting.
No, horse racing is not cruel. Of course there is a fraction that go through abuse. But what is happening to them is 3000x better than what happens to slaughter victems everyday. the 'advocates against racing' drive me nuts with their misinformation.
Oh man. Here come the Thumbs down

With this tragedy being part of the Triple Crown you have the the media hype. I do think if it weren't for that they would have said the Humane thing to do was put him down shortly after the tragic race.
I have been involved in racing for many years and I've had to make decisions and some were wrong and some were right. If I would have had a horse who had only basically his Ligaments holding his ankle and foot together I would have made the decision to put him down.
That is usually the decision with that type of injury.

If the horse is not worth talking about, as you claim....why are you wasting your greatly earned college education discussing it?
OH WAIT!!! You probably didn't even make it through high school. In case you missed it in grade school....
Questioning sentences end with a ?...which you obviously missed in the above questions.
Reading??? If the situation doesn't concern you, than move on. Let the people with brains and compassion speak of Barbaro's memory.
You are a freak....with way too much "time on his hands."

You need to grow up and mature a bit more.
Any animal that was a truly great animal, that dies, is a tragedy... Barbaro had the potential to be the greatest horse in many years.

People cared about Barbaro because he was a champion and had such a will to live..Sending cards or gifts was just a way to let his people know that he was loved.People are sad because he is gone.No one wanted him to suffer,we wanted him to get well.

People worship Nascar drivers and all they do is make left turns... to each their own. Grow up and respect other people's opinions.

the real tragedy is the abuse they put these horses through while training them. let the muthafucker graze if you really love horses, instead of using it as a moneymaker...
