Chances are you never will entirely now . It is a habit and should have never been permitted if that's not what you want. You can at least train them not to get on it while your around. Just don't allow it. Remove the dog as often as needed and say NO firmly each time. You could crate the dogs while your gone or when you leave they will get back on.

You will have to re-train them to understand that there are boundaries and that they are not allowed on the new furniture.
If you already do NILIF training or are a good established leader in your household, this should not be terribly difficult. When you're on the couch and the dogs come up to jump on the couch, tell them "NO" or whatever word you use for telling your dog something is not acceptable. Then lead them to a place that is acceptable for them to be in - for example, a dog bed placed in the living room near the couch.
Chances are, your dogs simply want to be near you. It matters little to a dog whether he gets to sit on the comfortable couch or a blanket on the floor, as long as he can see you and be with his people. Give him a proper alternative and always take him to the alternative when he acts like he's going to go on the new couch.
Obviously this is something that is hard to follow up on if you leave them loose in the house while you are not home. Until they understand they may not be on the couch in your absence, I would either place something around the couch or on the couch that will keep them from going up on it, or gate them out of the room so they cannot get in to sit on the couch.

All acceptable answers, above. You will have to be diligent w/ re-training. No matter the age, your dogs can be re-trained. When they get on the furniture all you have to do is take them by the collar and pull them off "gently" while saying no. Be consistent, if you leave your home and your dogs have the run of the house they will take advantage of your absence. You can change this by keeping that room off limits till you get back.
When we got our new puppy my g/f always wanted to have the puppy on her lap when sitting on a chair or couch. I asked her not to do this because of the reason you are having problems w/ now. The puppy a ESS is now close to a year old and does not jump on the couch.

I recently had the same issue. When I leave the house I put foil all over the couches. This has worked very well for months! Also, I got them dog beds so they still have somewhere to lay when I am home.

Put newspapers on the furniture. The dogs won't like the sound when they jump up so they will jump off. Also you could try putting beans or popcorn kernels in a pop can and shake it at them when they try to get up there. They won't like that sound either.

Provide them with their own comfy spot on the floor, like a nice doggie bed. Be gentle and consistent about letting them know you don't want them on the furniture. Good luck!

just every time he jumps up, push him off and tell him stay down. eventually he'll give up. we had something like this, our dog used to always be on the furnature, the foot of the couch, sleeping on the bed with my mom, as soon as the foot rest for the recliner went up, she came running to lay there with you. eventually she needed double knee surgury (from jumping on and off everything for years and years and being a little over weight). well, the vet told us she couldnt get on the furnature for a while until she healed, so we had to make sure she didnt. after about 3 months of telling her no, she eventually stoppped trying, and that was about 5 years ago now!

Keep one piece of old furniture that they liked and tell them that that is their furniture. Shoo them away from the new ones, and let them only on the old ones.
