The easiest way to remove stains is go to the dentist for a professional cleaning. You can scrub all day with different products and get your tissue nice and irritated or damaged beyond repair and still not get the stains off. We use specialized instruments to remove these stains below the gum and all over the teeth, then they are polished for a smooth feel. After we get them cleaned and stain free, then your home care will be a lot easier to do. It just takes brushing and flossing regularly and visits to the dentist to help keep them healthy and stain free. If your interested in whitening your teeth, just ask your dentist what method he would recommend for you. Hope I've been of some help, and good luck!

There are a lot of whitening products available. Studies have been done to test how well some of them work, and some work better than others. Some leave teeth sensitive, though. Listerine now has a new rinse that is supposed to whiten teeth as well.
You may want to do a search on "studies of effectiveness of teeth whiteners" or "most effective teeth whiteners" to get an idea of which ones work best.
I know there is "Topol" toothpaste that is supposed to help remove smoker's stains.

Easiest and cheapest way is to use the juice of a lemon. Just cut the lemon in half and rub it on your teeth. Don't do this too often as it may effect the enamel but it sure can get rid of stains and whiten teeth better than all those toothpastes etc.

There are a LOT of teeth whiteners on the market right now, but for stubborn stains, you might need to go to a dentist, I am pretty sure they can remove stains for you, but I'm not sure if insurance covers that.
Also, avoid smoking, drinking coffee, dark pop, and chocolate things.

There are many toothpastes and mouthwashes out there for this problem. There are also many different types of teeth whitening agents. Consult with your dentist - he or she can recommend what is best for you depending on what is causing the staining.

WHITENER:
A great teeth whitener is to mix equal parts baking soda and sea salt, then brush your teeth with it. It leaves them feeling clean. If you cannot use the salt due to blood pressure problems, that's ok, just use the baking soda and it should work the same. Rinse mouth with warm water afterwards.
