That's a fear of many people, because its unprotected. Depends where it was left, obviously. If it was at your office on your kitchen table, you'll probably just consume room-temperature water (plus a few specks of dust that flew around and landed on its surface overnight). There might be particles of pollen, which is ever-present and light spores from whatever (that we breathe in every second of the day). In warmer months, there may be mosquito eggs in the mix, but that's a longshot.

Water left out overnight will probably go stale and taste bad and make you sick and possibly die!!!

JUST KIDDING!! Go to ANY grocery store.. NONE of them keep the bottled water in coolers!! Water will never go bad, never spoil, and never rot. You can leave it outside under the car for a day and drink it and it wont be bad....

If you poured the glass during the evening and drink it the next morning there should technically be nothing wrong with it as long as your tap water is on a "safe" level when regarding chemicals. It may be somewhat "stagnant" or stale tasting, but it won't harm you.

Keep in mind, depending on your beliefs, water is anywhere from 6000 to 4 billion years old as it is. One more night isn't gonna hurt.

It's fine. Chlorine has evaporated (good) , it's room temp so doesn't shock your system, check to see if a little gnat drowned on the surface (not likely), enjoy the handy refreshment.

Actually it's safer for you if it's tap water. All heavy metals, sediments and other contaminants will settle to the bottom. Only drink half glass.
