Suggestion: stand well back
Question: why did you post this in the cats section? There may not be a laxative-eating puppy section but I'm sure I saw a dogs section...

OMG! How did he get ahold of laxatives?? I thought those were supposed to be up in the medicine cabinet, in the bathroom?? And I'm glad to know that you called a vet, BEFORE you came here! Not everyone does that. They call the vet AFTER they get answers telling them to!
Keep puppy outside, away from high traffic walk areas, to make him more comfy, and to avoid stepping in anything lol. Make sure he has PLENTY!!!!!!!!!!! of water. If you have to, dig a 2x2 hole in the yard and fill it with water! He's goin to be crapping alot, he could get dehydrated. Make sure he has grass to eat too. He's not going to feel well, and grass makes animals feel better sometimes. If he eats canned food, stop giving it to him. It will only further irritate the bowels, and can cause serious diarheah, and could put blood in his feces. Canned food has a tendancy to irritate the stomach, intestines, and bowels of animals, especially if they eat it alot. If he eats dried food, put some water in it, to make it a little softer, so his stomach doesn't get irritated, and it's easier to move through the intestines.
If it's real cold outside, then make sure he has somewhere warm to stay. Don't worry about him going in the dog house, or garage or whereever. If he has access to the yard, then that's where he'll go. He won't want to go where he's going to be sleeping. That's why people use crates when potty training.
Keep an eye on his stool. I know it's going to be real nasty, but you want to check for worms, blood, and other abnormalities. Human laxatives can make a dog, especially a puppy, inredibly sick. If he doesn't go today, then you need to take him to the vet, and have them do something then and there. Don't let them tell you to wait it out. He had laxatives. If he doesn't go, then he had to much, or ate something else, and got blocked up. Which means something is seriously wrong!!
I wish you the best of luck! You'l need it!!

Maybe they wont effect him too much? I gave my cat a thyroxine tablet once, quite a high dose. He ran around the house for hours really hyper then calmed down to his normal self again. The laxative may not have the same effect on an animal as human. Don't think it will harm him seriously. After all it doesn't humans does it.

Call another vet, poison control, or the customer service number on the box. If your puppy ate the entire box, look up the company on the internet to get the number.

well, you could make some money out of a puppy who can open the laxative pot by pushing down and turning and sell the products as manure. Just a thought.

when a human takes a laxative and then goes to the loo. the bodies salts then need replacing. this is what will happen to your puppy. i'm not suggesting feeding your puppy salt. but for the next few days you should feed it a dog food that is high in salt.

poor little guy will have diarrhea for a while but he will be fine . dont worry , just make sure he gets plenty of water to keep him hydrated because diarrhea will dehydrate him pretty fast and make sure you keep his food availabe at all times because the diarrhea will cause him to be very hungry because his food will not have time to completely go though his intestines and get all the necessary nutriets before he has to use the bathroom. hope hes better soon

Good Luck with that.
Read the label, or call the poison center they can help you, or at least let you know if you should induce vomiting.
In the mean time get your self some gloves, towels, and a carpet shampooer.
