Congratulations on your first year together - may you have many, many more!!!
The traditional first anniversary gift is paper. There are so many things that would fit into this that it would be impossible to name them all. But I would certainly make sure that it is something that can be kept for many years. All anniversaries are special, but like birthdays it just seems like the first is extra special and something you want to remember.
You could frame your marriage license and include a note about how you would do it all again. You could make a scrapbook with photos, ticket stubs, little "diary" notes on pages about some of your special memories. You could buy him a beautiful pen and pencil set and have it engraved and package it with some handsome hand-made linen stationary. You could take the lyrics from *your* song or a favorite poem and have a professional calligrapher write it out for you with a personal message at the bottom. You could have your wedding invitation framed in an engraved frame with your names and wedding date on it.
This is just a "small" list of the many possibilities you have. I hope that it got your creative side going. But most importantly, enjoy the day with your husband. Happy Anniversary!!!!

The first anniversary is paper. I suggest tickets to a concert, game or show as opposed to cash or a check.
Congrats.

First of all, congratulations on your first year and it looks like a little one on its way! My hubby and I have only been married for six months, but a big hit for this anniversary was a handmade coupon book. I made our celebration really nice and did a dozen coupons for things that I know he appreciates, but rarely gets like: one free movie rental for an action adventure, one homemade dinner of your choice, one free night on the play station guilt free, etc. I added cute stickers and pictures. He loves to use his coupons and it was really personalized to his tastes. Good Luck!
