Slimfast is great until you try to go back to real food. Then you start gaining again.

I did it for about 3 months, and lost about 1 1/2 stone on it.

The advantages are:

1) fairly cheap compared to buying sandwiches etc
2) you can have one anywhere, no matter what you're doing
3) you don't have to worry about creating low fat meals
4) it's easier to keep an eye on the calories you're consuming

The disadvantages are:

1) The powder mixes taste horrible - buy the ready made cans instead
2) If you use their snacks as well, the weight can take longer to come off and it can be quite expensive
3) You don't lose any more weight than other diets, such as Weight Watchers, where you can eat what you like in moderation
4) Drinking a shake for lunch is nowhere near as filling or satisfying as eating something. I missed the act of eating.

Overall, I'd say it's worth a try. If you do miss eating like I did, when you have a shake, make some salad to go with it - just a green salad with tomatoes, cucumber, celery, lettuce, carrot and peppers and use fat-free dressing. That'll make you feel like you've had more but will make hardly any difference to your weightloss or calorie intake.

Good luck!

What people think and what it does are 2 separate things. The market might allow for people to believe that slimfast could be a good dietary supplement and thus they run out and buy it. However the facts are that in the long run slim fast does not work in losing the "battle of the buldge"

Three years ago, I was really motivated to lose weight. I was 14 stone. I went on the Slimfast tins and did exactly what they suggested. I lost 30 pounds in about 6 months. (Unfortunately, I lost the motivation and put the ******* lot back on!).

i presonately dont like slimfast. the taste is not that bad i actually like the taste but i dont like that u have to substitute 2 meals with it. i mean a bar wont hold me like a plate of food. those bars dont work for me i would end eating the bar and then my regular food. i ve done a lot of diets and yes htey work u lose the weight but what happens u get it back. so the best thing thing to do is just get into the habit of eating as healties as possible without giving up the foods u like. for example during the weekend try to eat salads or the food u like but in smaller portion. and then one day of the week u get to eat the dessert u like. just try to eat less and less juk food but dont be too drasticall cuz when u satr eating again u will get the weight back. i mean unless u are 100 or more pounds overweight i dont reconmend to be too extreme. good luck!!!!!!!

Its a good quick fix, but you've gotta be prepared for some of the weight to go back on. If you want a quick fix, why not buy a big bag of frozen veg and replace your normal dinner or lunch with that. At least it's real food.

Starved myself for 2 weeks on it and put on weight. It's really not that healthy either. If your on a well balanced diet like that offered by Slimming World (which isn't really a diet it's more of a lifestyle change) the syn values are higher than that of a bar of chocolate. I know which I'd rater have!

to loose weight and keep it off in my oppinon you need to make a life stye change, now one certain thing is that no one is going to be able to stick to diet that involves drinking a rank and often not that cheap potion!!

my advice is callorie counting, at the start it really is borring but once you get used to it you do "food maths" in you head and after a while you get yourself into a heathy eating plan, thats what i did and it worked for me, there is an impressive range of lo calorie foods out there and loads of cook books of stuff you can make yourself.

hope this helps

Crud!
It is another fad designed to make others think you can lose weight quickly. Milkshakes do not help you lose weight; I have been there and done that. There is a can of Slim Fast gathering dust in my cupboard even as I write.
