I've seen Vista and it's very pretty. However as a very longtime computer user (first guy on the block with a Heathkit) I've got some serious reservations.

1) Minimum Ram for standard edition 512MB, Premium 1Gig

If you are running just the minimum, you can expect some problems when running multiple apps at the same time. 1 gig for standard and 2 Gig for premium seems more reasonable

2)minimum 128 k dedicated video memory

3)probably need at least a 200 gig hard drive

4)some of your software may not work

5)security flaws are at this point unknown (think xp service packs 1 and 2)

I'm usually an early adopter, and my machines can handle all of this, but #4 and #5 are deal breakers for me.

If you have the knowledge and the money (depending on where your machine is now $200 to as much as $600 dollars including new software) then by all means go for it.

Personally, I've found on my machines that XP is pretty bulletproof, so I'm gonna wait a while and see what the fallout is.

Microsoft has never to my knowledge released an OS that didn't have bugs.

Your pocket could loose weight probably. ;)

Yeah well apart from the humour I think this version comes with the latest version of the dot net framework. So if you are a programmer this might interest you. If it does you also belong to a small community that has the same belief.

However I've never really worked in vista...so until then, au revoir
