They are, by their own philosophical teachings, quite peaceful.

They do not point to anything outside themselves in blame.

I think you are confusing love with respect curiosity.

We tend to be seen as peaceful, forgiving, accepting of all others. We like to help others achieve their goals in life and put ours on the back burner. We are passive and we do not push our religion on others, therefore creating a lot of questions for people. There has never been a war because of Buddhist beliefs. The Buddhist people especially those in Tibet seem almost mystical to some. Not to mention that Tibet is being overtaken by China and having their civil rights destroyed. And yet they always seem to see the good in people. The Buddhist religion is one of loving kindness.

Its 'cos of the emancipation of the buddhist ideology by the east asian nations, who are mostly peace-loving and have little to do with violent and loud things in the world, but its not the only side of the scene...they showed the world just the brighter side and protected the rest in their niches...Buddha ne'er created a religion, he created the ideology of ahimsa, i have no offense to the followers cos there's been bad in the name of religion, in all religions, its good that they showed only the bright side.
The world loves them cos they have the least doubts, lots of patience, and cling on to their good work , however they are humans too; its not that budhists are not smugglers or never killed anyone, although overall they have a set mind and don't disturb who don't disturb them.

Having lived in Christian and Buddhist countries (I live in Thailand now), I can say this about Buddhism:

It is the least violent religion I have encountered. I attribute this partially to the fact that it is an atheistic religion - Buddha is NOT considered a god. No God, no killing in the name of God.

Combine that with karma - you are the sum total of your deeds. You can not be instantly and magically absolved, you can only do a disproportionate amount of good to make up for any bad.

That's my theory anyway.

I think it's mainly due to the fact they don't worship a god (they believe that the 'god' idea stems from fear and frustration). Without a god to force down everyone's throats (and fight about) it leaves them with the more peaceful process of trying to find solutions to their problems through self understanding and love for all creatures around them.

Because they don't focus on dogma or theology or deities. They just do their own thing and stick to following their system of practical philosophy without trying to convert others.

That's a pretty general statement to make.

Do research on Buddhism, and you may discover why. I like their style of thinking and their belief system.
