I have a seven month old kitten and we are getting a 10 week old German Sheperd this weekend. How do I introduce them to each and make them good friends? The kitty likes to play and is very loving.

Puppy, this is Kitty.

Kitty, this is puppy. You two play nice.

Seriously, when they are that young, they willo be a little leary of one another at first, but before you know it , the kitten will be putting the dog in its place, and they will be good pals.

I've been through this scenario several times. I think the best way to introduce a puppy to a kitten is simply to present them to one another, on a neutral space, IE not with one in your arms or next to you in a chair or on the couch. The floor is best. Let them become familiar with each other without your involvement. There might be a little hissing (a simple warning on the part of the kitten). They'll become fast friends.....or not. But leave them to sort out their own relationship. It's the only way.

Hmm, I would definitely supervise the situation. Most likely, kitty is going to teach the German Shepard how to play nice. My cat always slaps my dogs across the nose when they get out of line. Cats have a way of making their opinions and feelings known, and dogs always learn the hard way.

Good luck with that. I hope the puppy doesn't eat the kitten. They are both at a very playful age and you won't have any furniture left if they are both kept inside.

Have fun watching the fur fly. You may get lucky. I'd make sure to keep them seperated if the dog starts getting aggressive with the cat and vise versa.

hold them in turns and let them smell each other on the back
then let them introduce them selves
.the cat will start wantingto play with the dog
and if he does not decide to eat it
as jack russels do
then they will end up as friends
most dogs accept cats that are from the same household
and still could chase ,maybe kill strange cats
it has all to do with familiarity

just do it slowly, let the puppy and the kitty walk around in a room where you can keep a watch on them, the kitty might hiss and the puppy may get rough, but they will learn how to love each other

one person hold the cat one the dog let the dog smell the cat if the cat trys to hit the dog dont pull him away in a way that will make the dog wanna snap tell the dog no many times before he even gets close. i have 4 huskies they rule outside kitty rules inside. he even takes away napping spots from them in the house. he punks them but outside they would kill him.

Just let it happen naturally. Since the puppy is younger, it will be easier for the cat. I bet the cat will look after the pup before long!
