Whew. Good. I don't want anyone I know, in real life, knowing I come in here. I'd never hear the end of it.

Not here!!!! This place really IS the armpit of Yahoo. The chatrooms are the asshole.

Dear Jim,

No, I don't agree. When I see questions that seem to be written with someone I know in mind I email the questions.

When I see answers that make me fall down laughing I email those as well to people who need a good laugh.

I hope my confession doesn't disqualify me from answering your second question.

A really good place to start one's spiritual journey is to start right where you are and start with the Top Person. When I was an internal auditor I started with the top official in the department and eventually sat down with the people who did the work.

If you are sincere in wanting to know the Author of life you just have to speak to Him and He will help you because He has promised to help. If you are only trying to mock us then you'll just go around in circles.

Have you read C. S. Lewis' Mere Christianity? He was an atheist who decided that he was going to disprove God and decided to do it in an orderly fashion starting by reading the Bible. He became a Christian and I've enjoyed all of his works that I've read so far.

Lee Strobel was another Atheist who set out to disprove God in an orderly fashion and ended up becoming a Christian. He has written many good books.

Another person who checked out various religions is Ravi Zacharias. He discusses his search in Walking from East to West and Jesus Among Other Gods.

Of course the Bible is the most important starting point but I believe, if you are the same Jim Darwin that I've seen in other questions, that you have read it more than most Christians and haven't been convinced.

I hope the circumstances that you have been encountering in your life have brought you to the desire to start.

A couple of other authors that I highly recommend are J.I. Packer (Knowing God) and Josh McDowell (Evidence That Demands a Verdict). I don't believe that either man was an atheist.

There is nothing spiritual about atheists. Here's a website where you can see how God is crushing atheism every day. Even where it has reigned for over 75 years. Visit school of christ international dot com. You may not like it, but a Christian's gotta love it. Have a nice day. ( be sure to surf it well. i.e. click on all the dropdowns, etc. so you can see how far it is going to stomp out atheism. Enjoy !)

Peace!
With himself. He should forgive everyone particularly those who have hurt him the most. He should also forgive himself. Then he should read the story of the Prodigal son (Luke 15, 11-32). I guarantee he will be a different person after doing this.
Have a great day

I am not sure this section qualifies as the place. I would not trust a mans opinion on such important matters without first getting it from the source itself.(God)
