Do you think when a store gets a shipment of microwaves, they plug them all in? Give you a generator to take them home - so that they are still running?

Any appliance - but a fridge or freezer can remain un-plugged till needed. My parent's used to have an old electric range in their basement that was only used to cook turkeys on Thanksgiving - all other times of the year it was un-plugged. It still worked.

Yes, I had a microwave once that wouldn't stop running, so I had to unplug it all the time.

Definitely! I always unplug mine when I go on vacation. Plus, it saves on a little electricity to not have the clock running.

It would be fine you just have to reset the clock each time to start it. It does take a little time to warm up the magnetron that produces the microwaves.

Sure it can! Why don't you just plug it into a power strip so you will just need to flip a switch when you want it back on?
