* Does the Jesus walking on water story assume the same principles as the Princess and the Pea? *

Yes, both are built on the principle of faith, you will need faith and plenty of it to believe either story.

The Princess and the Pea.
They saw at once that she must be a real princess when she had felt the pea through twenty mattresses and twenty feather beds. Nobody but a real princess could have such a delicate skin.

Jesus and the water.
They saw at once that Jesus must be God when he was
able to walk on top of water without sinking. Nobody but a real God could have such delicate feet.

Have a pleasant day.

What principles? That a person of high rank can do things that others can't?
First of all, Jesus came first, historically speaking, and the princess and the pea came second.
Then, the story of Jesus walking on water is not about doing things others couldn't. It is a lesson of trust.
