Of course, they are free to do whatever they want. I'm Mormon, but my wife is agnostic. Some people don't understand why I would marry someone not Mormon, but all people I have met respect my decision. My wife is awesome and we just have an understanding that we disagree on religion. I go to church weekly and continue to do my thing. The most important thing in any relationship is respect, and there will always be differences (albeit this is a large one), so it is important to be clear, communicate and love them no matter what. There will be extra hurdles (as with any two people with different religions) when it comes to children, etc., but we will work it out. For Mormons, they believe you must marry in the Temple to be with your spouse for all eternity, and I consciously made the choice to spend this life with my love.

Of course we mormons can marry outside our religion. It is not uncommon. As long as they both respect eachother's beliefs, and support them in worshipping. But don't expect them to change. Sometimes mormons marry outside their religion with the idea that their spouse will convert. This can lead to horrible divorces because of the false pretense. On the other hand many people who marry a mormon will convert due to the fact that they can't help but recognize the truth when it is so close to them all the time.

Yes a Mormon can marry outside the Mormon religion. Nothing really happens to them within the church except there are some big choices that they may make based on that decision.

Will there be one religion in your family or will there be two? How will your raise your children should you have any? Mormon believe in eternal life and eternal marriage as members of their church - would you want either without your spouse?

I'm Mormon and my husband was Nazarene. He chose to meet with both his ecclesiastical leader and mine and the Mormon missionaries without me knowing about it. He wanted one house with one religion. In the end, he became Mormon, too. I'm grateful for it, but I think it has to be a choice that you are ready to make on your own without the influence of love. We're very happy.

Do you have to convert to marry a Mormon - no. Do what works for the both of you

Well, my mom's parents were Mormon and Catholic. My grandma took the children to church, and my grandpa stayed home. She prayed for years that he would join the Church, but he just did his own thing until 4 years or so before he died. Then he decided that he wanted to be with his family forever even after death, and he got a testimony and was baptized. Theoretically, you can marry anyone as long as you respect each other. But as a general rule, it's a good idea to marry someone with a similar outlook on life.
