When I do exercises such as moving my arms from side to side or when I exercise rotating my torso.

Please advise

Strenuous exercise can cause shortness of breath for the heart beats faster. Whether only moving of arms etc will also lead to shortness of breath will depend on the age and physical fitness of the person. It is always better to seek medical advice in such cases rather than take a chance.

When you are moving this way you are in a way pushing the air out of your lungs because these movements squeeze the chest cavity. If you are not breathing properly it very well could cause a shortness of breath. If you are not accustomed to vigorous exercise it could cause shortness of breath. If you are breathing properly and are accustomed to vigorous exercise, it may be worth your while to have a doctor's advice.

This could be caused by the restriction to the normal movements of the chest cavity during these exercieses, or by being ' out of shape'... Anytime you feel short of breath without understanding why, it is advisable to stop the activity. Consult your doctor and ask if it is normal/safe to continue.

Hve you an hiatus hernia by any chance? This can cause the symptoms you describe. Best get it checked out at the doctors.

if you're not doing this excersize for too long, no it is not normal. you should go see a doctor.
