I have very good credit, but my bf had VERY bad credit, with outstanding delinquencies from like 5 years ago. what happens when we get married? do they start a new credit report for the accounts with the 2 of us or "combine" our reports? or just keep us seperate?

He's the one with the income.

Your credit reports remain separate. Hoever, if you both apply for something, you would probably get declined since his credit is bad. If you get married, until his credit clears up, you may be putting most things in your name, if your income is high enough. Companies will usually not use his income unless he is listed on the credit application.

As a supplement, the primary applicant does not get more weight than the co-applicant.

You will each still have your own credit report. Any joint credit accounts you apply for will then have an entry on both reports. When applying for credit, be sure to list your information first, because the credit history of the primary applicant is given more weight then that of the co-applicant.

Credit reports don't combine when you get married.

they can either combine, or just yours, if you request it.I work with both types of credit, and yes you can do one or both.
It would be to his advantage to start getting his credit repaired.
