IE Microsoft Office or a game like the Sims 2 or Photoshop. I know all these programs can be very expensive.

You have to refer to the End User License Agreement (EULA) for each program to be sure, but in general the answer is no. Some versions of Office have a EULA that permits the installation on a primary computer and 1 portable device used by the same user (of course, how would they know?)....but ultimately, they want you to buy 1 copy for each computer.

You can try that, but you run into a problem if you have internet access and your software tries to contact the company. If it does, it might relay information such as the computer name and the product key. If the company sees that within 1 month you installed the same software on say 9 different machines, they will know something is up. Some software will lock you out when the company determines it is on more than 1 PC, in general like Snoopy said they want you to purchase a license for each machine.

No. Most are limited to one machine. Microsoft Offcie Student and Teachers Edition was limited to three machines. I think the new Home and Teachers is also licensed for multiple machines, but I have no idea how many.

Yes. I have Microsoft Office 97 and AutoCad on two of my computers right now. Both are VERY expensive programs, and yet my dad also has these on his computer too.

Linux operating systems are excellent. Try out one of the free distributions. My favorite is UBUNTU. You can download it, or order a CD, at

You will also get all the software, that you will ever need, FREE - See
