I had gastric bypass surgery in 12/04. I have had no complications of any kind.

In the last 2 weeks, however, something bad is happening. I thought at first that I was becoming lactose intolerant and the lattes I drink each morning were becoming a problem. I gave them up 2 weeks ago. Not that.

I have VERY painful gas and a tremendous amount of bubbling in my stomach all day long which leads to back pain, headaches and diarrhea. I have tried many OTC remedies for both stomach upset and gas and nothing is working.

I am in the middle of a probationary period at a new job, my health benefits will not come into play for another 3 wks. A doctor’s visit is out of the question.

Does anyone out there know what this might be? I have read on some GB forums of some TERRIBLE issues people have had post-surgery, like small tears in the new stomach and the like. But in every case I read about, that came to the fore much earlier than this. Anyone have any informed ideas about this?

If you're frequenting the bathroom once every 3 hours, or at a minimum of more than 4 times a day, then the trouble is probably in your colon or small intestine. A change in your diet can trigger a problem that wasn't prevalent before. Don't wait for the health insurance to kick in. Go see a doctor soon, maybe even a gastroenterologist.

I hate to say it, but a doctors visit IS in need here. If you have tried all OTC drugs and remedies with no help, then there is an issue. I am heistant to say this, but I would research Crohns disease and see if you have any of the symptoms. Crohns can range from mild to severe. If you have had gastric bypass surgery, that may very well have something to do with it. Honestly, the only way to KNOW for sure is to visit the docs office or just hold out and see what happens.

I hope everything is ok with you. Best wishes!

I would call the doctor's office that did the bypass, explaining your work/insurance situation. See if they have any suggestions for you until you can get into see the doctor. Even though post surgery things like this often occur soon after surgery, everyone is different. It's not out of the question that a small tear has worked it's way through and acid could be getting into areas it shouldn't be.

Basic health - Onion soup because onion is in the garlic family and has curative qualities. Stay away from the sugars and limit the carbs. Yeast feeds off sugar, produces the symptoms you are describing. When you do get coverage check out the possibility of having a yeast overgrowth in your intestines, Candex is a product I have used start slow it produces these symptoms when killing off the yeast.
Replace with probiotics to have a healthy system.

Sometimes, excess gas also can cause extremely painful symptoms as described (It need not be something terrible as you are presuming). Avoid foods which you think cause trouble and arrange to see a doctor meanwhile. (Foods to avoid could include beans, rice, milk, mushrooms). You can try substituting milk or coffee with plain yogurt (with salt or sugar).
