I had gastric bypass surgery in 12/04. I have had no complications of any kind.

In the last 2 weeks, however, something bad is happening. I thought at first that I was becoming lactose intolerant and the lattes I drink each morning were becoming a problem. I gave them up 2 weeks ago. Not that.

I have VERY painful gas and a tremendous amount of bubbling in my stomach all day long which leads to back pain, headaches and diarrhea. I have tried many OTC remedies for both stomach upset and gas and nothing is working.

I am in the middle of a probationary period at a new job, my health benefits will not come into play for another 3 wks. A doctor’s visit is out of the question.

Does anyone out there know what this might be? I have read on some GB forums of some TERRIBLE issues people have had post-surgery, like small tears in the new stomach and the like. But in every case I read about, that came to the fore much earlier than this. Anyone have any informed ideas about this??

You're not complaining about any pain in the area of the bypass. Sounds like you may have some type of intestinal 'bug'. Having the bypass may have something to do with why it's lasting so long. You should go to your local emergency room. They can take a stool sample. If you find out it's an intestinal virus or bacteria, you can rule trouble with your bypass out. A trip to the ER isn't that expensive, and you can always pay it in installments. It's not going to help you to let it go and fall down ill 2 1/2 weeks from now. Then you won't have insurance, or a job.

I will Pray that you have more time with this.. I do not think it is wise to take this to a forum, since it could be a number of things.. And stress from worry will only make it worse..

In the mean time, drink water, slowly, do not eat seeds, peanuts, Milk, salad.. This might be a gallbladder problem.. You should be eating Bland foods.. And call your doctor who did the surgery, you might have something serious that will need attention.. And I think you could use the extra peace of mind.. Tell him about your insurance and problem as you did here and see if he can't help you out..
Good Luck..

I've never had gastric by pass, but the pain sounds like the same kind of pain that I go through very frequently. I have gastritis, acid reflux & a peptic ulcer. It sounds more like gas pains. Try an over the counter drug like gas-x. I wish you the best.
