First of all has she seen the doctor and did he put her on any medication? One of the best foods is oatmeal that can help lower your cholesterol plus if she can start making vegetable soup. The homemade kind is the best and very easy to make get a can of Swanson's chicken, beef or vegetable broth pour it in a dutch oven and add whatever veggies she has on hand, usually that is carrots, potatoes, and some zucchini or celery, onions and bell peppers, also add a handful of rice, barley or pasta and simmer for a about 15-20 minutes. Sometimes cholesterol is genetic so its not always about the foods you eat.
But my guy's cholesterol was very high and now its 144, through the 2 meds he takes and of course losing weight also helps lower cholesterol.
p.s. some cholesterol meds are incompatible with grapefruit so read the medication cautions if she likes grapefruit.

Oatmeal is the easiest and most economical food to lower cholesterol. If she likes sweets - oatmeal cookies are a must. For snacking, she should reach for almonds or walnuts. See the first link below.
Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP) is a good meat substitute if she just can't wean herself from meat. It comes in all flavors and is a great substitute for beef, ham, pork, chicken - you name it. See the second link below for an excellent source.
Apple Cider Vinegar. She should try to have at least one large salad a day, using apple cider vinegar and extra virgin olive oil as the dressing. See third link.
Extra virgin olive oil. If she must use oil, she should always use extra virgin olive oil. Of all the oils, this is the least damaging. See first link.
Raw Honey should be used as a sweetener in as many food applications as possible. See last link.

To lower the cholesterol level isn't by food only but also by lifestyle modification
-There are 2 famous herbs can lower the fat in the body (including cholesterol)
1-Garlic 2-Onion
-They are very effective and very safe
-I heared that to remove there smell, eat an apple after eatting them
(or cook with them)
*But lifestyle must be managed:
1-NO NO fat in the food
2-Sport
3- Eat Fish
4-Go to the doctor , to manage her cholesterol level
(Look for a fast effect within day or hours, you must use a madication which described by the doctor but FOR management of cholesterol level (prophylaxis), you can use hearbs)

She should not only try oatmeal, cheerios, and other foods that help lower cholesterol, but she also should cut out all foods that could heighten it.
If she eats anything with eggs, be sure she only eats the egg whites and NOT the yolks. Cut out butter as much as you can. Red meat, cheese... any of these kinds of foods need to be eliminated as much as possible from her diet, in addition to her eating the good foods.

White meats not red she needs to stop eating artery clogging foods, like fried foods. Start using a broiler or grill to cook foods like burgers steak that's only if she can't stop eating red meats.. Eat Vegetable and fruits. Take her to a Dr and ask if she can be put on cholesterol pills, i can't take them so my Dr told me to start taking fish oil pills 1000 miligrams 3 times a day i read about them and they actually work in lowering cholesterol.

oatmeal helps to bring it down, but when people suffer with this, it is usually eating to much fried foods.. She should not eat any trans fats.. And NO fat on meat!! On Packages that is low in C, at the bottom of the package, you will see a triangle with a check in it.. Make sure she buys those items.. And eat no processed meat..
Tell her if she makes anything that has oil in it, it is olive oil..
And to get out and do some fast walking, that uses up fat in the body and takes it out of the blood.. But to talk to her doctor and ask him to give her names of a nutrionalist who can work on her diet with her..
Good Luck, hope this helps..

Cheerios and oatmeal claim to do the job. Here is the Mayo Clinic link. She not only has to learn what is low but what to avoid. Also she will need to raise her ggod cholesterol. Your doctor will ususally only let you try fixing it with diet and exercise for a few months before he will put you on medicine for it.
