My cousin got married on the Wirral recently and his photographer was brilliant, although unfortuantely I can't remember her name. I saw the album - really impressive.
I know he considered using Andrew John, who's based in Maghull (expensive though), and then found these others who had similar albums but more on his wavelength. They looked at loads of people and couldn't find anyone they really liked for ages.
I'll let you know if I figure out who they were! Sorry to not be of more use right now.
Here's the update. I did a search and found them through this site: http://www.weddingkeepsakes.co.uk/mersey/mers_directory_photography.htm
Their own address is www.aganphotography.co.uk

I can tell her what not to do - go for the fifty-something guy who's a little bit cheaper than the 'classy' photographers and sounds like he knows what he's doing... but is actually stuck in the dark ages.
I went to a friend's wedding two weeks ago and the photographer spent an hour and a half ordering us all into lines. He had two cameras around his neck and another photographer with him, who also had two cameras around his neck. Each of them took two photographs with each camera, and we were all stood there in the freezing cold looking as happy as war memorials.
In the evening he set up a laptop and started trying to sell the pictures to everyone in the middle of the disco.
I've been to other weddings like this too, although this was probably the worst. I think a lot of the 'modern' stuff looks a bit trashy though - too much in the way of digital work. I'd say it's worth her spending a bit more for someone who's good behind the camera as well as the computer.

I used Stephen Redfern for some portraits I had done, but he's also a wedding photographer too, I'm willing to bet he's pretty good.

a friend of mine, Robert, is very good. He works in the north and I know he travels, check out his site, - www.robertwelsh.co.uk he's very good and reasonably priced. If he agreed to do it she wouldn't be disappointed.
