My 4 year old daughter has chicken pox. I have never had the virus before and the doc advised that at this time it does not make sense for me to get the vaccine. I cannot afford to become infected because of my job.

My kid and I are very close and affectionate to one another. How do I take care of her without contracting the virus from her? I would like to hear from you.

Thanks

Your doctor is right. Once your daughter has it, there is not much use for a vaccine. The transmission time is very short and you will either get it or not. Worrying about it will not change anything.

I don't think it's possible not to contract the virus if you have never been infected and are in constant contact with your daughter.

chicken pox is spread by coughing and sneezing (highly contagious). it is only apparent after 14 days of actually contracting and contagious throughout those fourteen days before evident and up to fourteen days after the first sore is evident.

You have already been exposed. There is nothing you can do now.
