Chocolate and chips both affects brain chemicals. You crave these because you might have a deficiency. Just eat bananas instead, as these will give you the same brain chemical reaction as the chocolates and chips do.

Eat a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, esp. bananas!

Drink 6-8 glasses of water daily

Get plenty of exercise (30 minutes at least three times a week)

Eat regularly throughout the day.

Get plenty of natural sunlight .

Manage stress and negative emotions .

Get 6-8 hours of quality sleep a night

Set time aside for fun and relaxation.

Take a serotonin supplement if you still have cravings.

I believe that dieting should not mean eliminating the foods we love, but you are going to have to stop the uncontrollable part of that if you really do hope to lose weight. Read the label on your favorite foods, and select a portion. Put that portion is a dish, put the bag of chips away. Go sit down, and slowly eat that portion.Better yet, buy individual bags so that there is not an open bag calling to you from the pantry. In the case of chocolate, have the one candy bar and include those calories in your daily intake, again, eating slowly. Drink a glass of water before and after you indulge. You need to get up to 6 to 8 glasses a day.

You will have to control those portions, and that is where the hard part of dieting comes in: willpower and self-control. If you still feel the need to chew, make the next bite an apple or carrot. See if you can't switch from chips to pretzels, which are satisfyingly crunchy, but a far better choice. There are some good microwave popcorn choices too, but watch out for so-called "low-fat" products, that often seem like the answer but aren't. (Sometimes low-fat products have more calories than regular and the sodium content can be horrific.)

Another good tactic is writing it down, keeping track of the calories you eat throughout the day. It can be eye-opening when you do, but do not beat yourself up. Just learn what your habits are, start making small changes and try not to feel deprived, because you know your goal is clear. Oh, and don't forget to move! A good walk or a swim or a dance around the living room -- whatever you enjoy -- is the other essential piece. Good luck. You can do this!

Though I am not qualified to make this assumption, you may very well have a eating disorder. If YOU suspect this to be the case, then I would seek help immediately. Eating things in moderation is ok. However, devouring boxes of chocolate and bags of chips like a savage who has never eaten fried chicken before is a problem. You need a lifestyle change. Exercising at least 3 times a week will help against your cravings. If 3 times a week isn't enough, then do it 5-6 times a week.

Exercise and eating healthier foods will strip away the desire for that much chocolate and chips naturally. And when I say exercise, I mean cardio and weight training. Start out doing what you can and then gradually increase your weight and time to push your body. If you are not willing to do this, then you are not willing to change. Go to a physician and get a full physical. Listen to any recommendations he/she may have for you and follow them. Also, consider visiting a mental health specialist if you feel you just can't stop.

Regardless, I wish you the best and I hope that you get the help you need.

The first thing I would suggest is not to buy them. Out of sight, out of mind. If for some reason you can't control them being in the house then you need to think why are you going to eat them. Are you really hungry or is it some emotional issue that you are trying to bandaid with food. Take a step back and get a glass of water. Try to eat protein filled meals which will fill you up and you won't want any snacks. Good luck.

Start eating bannanas laced with rock salt every time you feel like eating chocolates or chips and there ends the matter because bannana with rock salt would taste lots better than chocolates or chips.

Don't bring them into the house, but if you feel like indulging a little bit, get little boxes of chocolates, with like 3 or 4 pieces, and get little bags of reduced fat chips.
