Ideally, any student of the martial arts should study for 3 to 6 hours a day probably around 5 or 6 days a week. Again this is the ideal for building skill, endurance, etc...

The minimum you should work out if you are going to compete is going to be 2 or 3 hours a day 3 days a week. This is the absolute minimum and you will do better the more to study.

Also, remember to change up your routine. Two days a week on weights, high weight, low rep. Your routine should include exercises that will use the most combinations of muscle groups possible. Think about pushing and pulling horizontally and vertically. ie... Bench Press and Seated rows. Overhead press (military press) and pull downs.

This will help build speed and strength for your competitions. Once done lifting then move to Cardio. This will help to burn off the soreness of weight lifting.

If you have not done any lifting to now start small and slowly build up. Light but with effort and then add about 5 lbs per month on arm workouts.

Please feel free to contact me if you want to know more.

One last thing, I have studied with a few girls that practiced BJJ. They were great. I am sure you can be too.

Good luck on your competition.

I train 1 or 2 days a week jujitsu (only 1 day of actual wrestling and 1 day pure technique) and 2 days judo and have competed with some success. I do alot of weights and cardio on my own which I think helps.

Three hours a day four to six days a week is great. Be sure to hydrate properly. You need plenty of water and electrolytes.
