ie in which year(s) the US have not been in/direclty involved in a major war operation = Vietnam, Korea, Afgha, Irak etc... and I'm also including peacekeeping operation (or was it ??) like Somalia.

I don't remember any conflicts we were in during the years 1946-1950/1954-1956/ 1976-1978. After that we were involved one way or another in civil war and anti communist operations or mixed up in the middle east to this very day and for the foreseeable future.

I can't think of any time that we have not been at war or under threat of war. I am 61 years old and my memory goes back to Eisenhower.

not many years in there for sure. unfortunately, it seems the rest of the world will never resolve their own issues and we get pulled into so many conflicts because other countries wont control themselves or their neighbors. seems like they all want our help to fix things till were there... then they all love to hate us

That is what happens when your the big dog on the block. Everyone gets this crazy idea that they can take us on. Then when we kick there butt they go screaming and crying to the press or the UN.

If you want to be policeman to the world, you have to constantly get your hands dirty in some conflict. This is just common sense.
