Everybody turns to chocolate for a little comfort and joy.
Here are the scientific reasons for being happy after a bar of chocolate. Well, not everybody gets that feeling Im sure, but try not to eat the whole 2 kilogram slab of chocolate.
Chocolate affects the levels of endorphins in the brain. Eating chocolate increases the levels of endorphins released into the brain, giving credence to the claim that chocolate is a comfort food. The endorphins work to lessen pain and decrease stress (2). Another common neurotransmitter affected by chocolate is serotonin. Serotonin is known as an anti-depressant. One of the chemicals which causes the release of serotonin is tryptophan found in, among other things, chocolate (1).
One of the more unique neurotransmitters released by chocolate is phenylethylamine. This so called "chocolate amphetamine" causes changes in blood pressure and blood-sugar levels leading to feelings of excitement and alertness (1). It works like amphetamines to increase mood and decrease depression, but it does not result in the same tolerance or addiction (3). Phenylethylamine is also called the "love drug" because it causes your pulse rate to quicken, resulting in a similar feeling to when someone is in love (4).

In certain people, women most especially, the chemicals released in the brain from eating chocolate are the same ones released by a person "in love" This is one of the reasons that chocolate is such a common gift for Valentine's Day. The recipient eats the chocolate and perhaps mistakes the feeling as love for the sender instead of the chemical reaction from eating the chocolate.

Yes, definitely! Chocolate contains phenethylamine (PEA), which stimulates the nervous system, triggering the release of endorphins, opiate-like compounds that dull pain and give a sense of well-being. It makes you feel like you are in love.

YES .....chocolate is "comfort" food !
Our taste buds are happy and relieved when something as amazing as chocolate goes into our mouths !
We tend to indulge when we feel low ......so when something tastes great ...we feel better !
Don't worry about your weight ....you deserve it !!
