I started writing a diary when I was 14, it's still going, infact, I've just added entries today and its totally up to date. When I was around that age, music and drama were very important, I played several recorders and the melodica in the school orchestra and and E flat bass (tuba) in the school band and the town's massed school band, I also did stints in theatre workshops during my last two summers. I wasn't that interested in boys, pop music though I, too, liked Adam and the Ants but I was never a 'fan'. Although I did go to the Newcastle hotel Bucksfizz were staying at when they had that accident; I gave the receptionist a get well card and left. He was astonished. Hanging around the street or infact interacting with anyone never entered my little mind ... I still don't like it. There were other kids in the bands, orchestra and Empire of course but I didn't really befriend them.
I was also visiting my Mam in hospital a lot. She had a massive stroke when I was 15, I was actually at the Empire at the time actually. She had open heart surgery when I was 14 - again when I was at the Empire because I was on television (and the front page of the Echo) and my aunt had to tape it.. Something when I was 12 ... I've always thought that it was the burst duodenal ulcer but my sister and brother who are both older than me say that was a lot earlier.
So, that is a very succinct summary of my teens.

oddly enough, how short my trousers kept getting. i had huge growth spurts for about 6 months and went through at least twenty diff lengths of trousers in that time. it's a natural thing, body parts growing and changing and looking differnt every time you wake up- but it all happens eventually. don't worry about it and remember there's always someone y uo can talk to if you're relly worried. childline on 08001111 really helped me, right from when i started puberty at age 15/16, and i still talk to them occasionally now and im 19.
good luck babe
