There seem to be 3 different sounds all at different pitches...its there most of the time but much more noticable at night ..making it very hard if not impossible to sleep...my left ear is very painfull and this pain seems to run down from just under the ear on my neck.
I went to the Dr and was told i had an ear infection and was given Amocicilin for a week...which is fine but does anyone have any ideas about how i get to sleep at night!
Also is it likely that this is just an ear infection.
Thanks
Bari.

My mother's been going through this too. It's driving her crazy. She is having to have some sort of light noise to cover it, like the radio on soft music at night. Anything that affects the inner ear can cause this. Plus, for you, and I've had ton's of ear infections even at my age. It's very possible the Amoxicillian isn't working and you need to step up to a different antibiotic. Z-Pak is more expensive but is the only one that works for me. Amox. is the first line and the cheapest. If you are still hurting, noises aside. Call your doc ASAP and tell him the anitobiotic isn't working and you need a different one because you aren't going through the weekend this way. Also, they can give you a very low, titrated (reducing the dose daily) modified steroid called a medral dose pakage. This works great in conjunction with an antibiotic to reduce the inflammation and pain. I take it a few times a year - depending on your current health status, there shouldn't be any side effects. Don't suffer - get something to fix it now! (The longer I wait to treat it with the right anti-biotic, the longer it takes to get rid of it so I'm pretty insistant in this regard). Good Luck and feel better.

I have had the same symptoms for two months. I too took the ear drops my DR prescribed and for awhile it seemed to help.
But the pain come back fierce. I had no real swelling that the DR could see but my ear and under it hurt and also when I chewed.
The Doctor then said i could get this from chewing a lot of gum or hard food..etc etc..also GRINDING MY TEETH at night or during the day clenching your jaw. Yes I am guilty of both. My next step is to see a dentist if this persist and they have a guard you wear..
Doctor told me Burt Reynolds suffered very badly from this condition and he got hooked on pain pills trying to relieve the pain. I am trying not to do the grinding and I notice i do clench my teeth..but if i don't get relief i will have to see a dentist.. i know my dentist told me he seen some damage of grinding but at that time i was not hurting. i hope this might be of some help

It may be the onset of Tinnitus, which I have been suffering from for years. You notice it more at night when your surroundings are quiet. The condition may get better in time since this is new to you, however, if it continues there is not much one can do. I've tried most of the "cures" that are out there but nothing has helped. Good Luck to you.

Take some brandy and go to bed it gives you sound sleep and also removes infection from the blood. If you do not want to drink then you can take some sleeping pills and go to bed . If even this you do not want to take then drink 300 ml of semi hot milk and you will get sleep. Oh I just forgot the best would be take 20 peppers and slightly crush them and boil it with 1/2 glass of milk and consume it . This remove the buzzing from the ears instantly and you can go to sleep.
